The God who Stays

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh start! A new day to stand up in the assurance and confidence in the God who stays. I listened to a song this weekend by Matthew West. It’s called, “The God who Stays.”

And that’s exactly what He does. He stays. He is not moved by your circumstances. He is not moved by your storm. He is not moved by your sin. He is the God who Stays.

When you have experienced rejection and pain from other places, you can flee to Jesus and you can trust Him.

Sometimes it’s hard to relate to God as the God who stays because of our experiences with people who have hurt us. People have rejected us when we were vulnerable. People may have left you after you felt like you revealed the real you. People may have cast stones that they never had the right to pick up in the first place.

Sometimes after a string of “people disappointments”, we start to believe that’s how God will interact with us too.

The enemy starts to use our pain and our experience to lie and say that’s How God is too. And the enemy adds onto those lies by pairing them with a personal assault on our design. He may tell us things that… “Something is wrong with you. You are unloveable. You’ll never get it right no matter how hard you try. It’s hopeless. Hide from God..Run from God. God will not possibly stay through this.”

Lies… all.of it.

God WILL stay. Nothing can separate you from His love. You ARE loveable and worthy. You ARE His design and you are brimming with value..you don’t have to work to make yourself worth value. You already ARE so precious and valuable just because the Lord formed and fashioned you. He dreamed about you and planned you long ago. He made good plans and purposes for you and chose a unique time in history to place you on earth, so that your unique design and the Spirit who lives inside of you can move ahead into all that God planned and purposed for you.

He’s not going anywhere. He will have your back endlessly. He will continually speak life into you. He will affirm you and reaffirm you. If you feel like you are stuck or failing or messing up beyond repair, this is the moment to flee to Jesus.

In our struggles, we sometimes want to run away from the very One who can save us. We want to run and fix it and then come back to God when we have it all under control. We want to pray when we are in a good place and have our “sin” in check. The ironic thing about that is we can’t get things like sin, destructive patterns, continual pain or disappointment “under control” without the equipping grace of the Lord..so we flee from the One who has the power to heal, forgive, wash clean, set back upright and carve out a path filled with purpose.

He has never left you even in your darkest hour, and He NEVER will. Even if you have felt the sting of rejection time and time again, you can trust He will never reject you. You can run to Him and He will wrap His arms around you regardless of the muck of the world that you have rolled in. He will not flinch, or back away, or be moved to leave you. He will stay in all seasons, all weather, all moments, all needs, all of it.

Friends, we serve a God who Stays!!!!!

Here Are the Lyrics and the link to the song: The God Who Stays https://g.co/kgs/dstt1P

I were You I would’ve given up on me by now

I would’ve labeled me a lost cause. Cause I feel just like a lost cause

If I were You I would’ve turned around and walked away. I would’ve labeled me beyond repair Cause I feel like I’m beyond repair

But somehow You don’t see me like I do. Somehow You’re still here. You’re the God who stays. You’re the God who stays. You’re the one who runs in my direction

When the whole world walks away You’re the God who stands. With wide open arms. And You tell me nothing I have ever done can separate my heart. .

From the God who stays. I used to hide. Every time I thought I let You down. I always thought I had to earn my way

But I’m learning You don’t work that way. Somehow You don’t see me like I do. Somehow You’re still here. You’re the God who stays. You’re the God who stays

You’re the one who runs in my direction. When the whole world walks away. You’re the God who stands. With wide open arms

And You tell me nothing I have ever done can separate my heart. From the God who stays

My shame can’t separate. My guilt can’t separate. My past can’t separate. I’m Yours forever

My sin can’t separate. My scars can’t separate. My failures can’t separate. I’m Yours forever

No enemy can separate. No power of hell can take away. . Your love for me will never change. I’m Yours forever

You’re the God who stays. You’re the God who stays. . . You’re the one who runs in my direction. When the whole world walks away

You’re the God who stands. With wide open arms

And You tell me nothing I have ever done can separate my heart. . From the God who stays. You’re the God who stays

You’re the one who runs in my direction

When the whole world walks away. You’re the God who stands. With wide open arms

And You tell me nothing I have ever done can separate my heart. From the God who stays

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being the God who stays. Who runs toward me. Who loves me in all seasons no matter the whether. Your love for me is immeasurable, infinite, ongoing, never ending, and hard to grasp fully in my mind. Lord, I am placing my trust in You that You will be here with me in every moment. You are the God who stays.

In Jesus’s name, Amen.

Blessings,

Vanessa Lynn

  1. Great post Vanessa. The one common factor we have seen in man is his/her capacity to betray. This is one of the hallmarks of the ‘self’ nature. It is also something God does not have. He has been betrayed but never betrays. Funny thing about faith is that as we try God and learn to lean on Him we slowly find out He doesn’t betray. That is why it is faith. We don’t know this God when we start our journey and only discover it as we go through trials. When we finally learn that God is more stable and faithful than we could ever understand there is great freedom and trust.

    Thank you.

    1. Hi Les! Thank you. And yes, this is so true and important for us to remember. Sometimes we compare God to our earthly experiences with man. Sometimes without even realizing it. So good to be reminded. He doesn’t betray. He doesn’t leave. Thank you!
