Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh new start. A new day to rise up and boldly believe that the Lord will fulfill His promises to you. Whatever He has placed on your heart will be fulfilled. Nothing is impossible with God.

Sometimes in the quiet space of longing for our breakthrough miracle, we mistake God’s silence for inaction. He is working.

Even when you can’t see it, He is working.

Even when He is silent, He is working.

Even when He is still, He is working.

Even in the darkness, He is working.

David said it best when he said, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me. ”

God is continually at work. John the Baptist was born to a barren couple after a lifetime of yearning for a child. And when it seemed impossible because she was old and beyond childbearing years, she conceived. And she conceived a child with the divine purpose of paving the way for the Messiah! What a blessing it must have been to be the momma of the one who would prepare the hearts of men for the Lord.

Jesus was born after over 400 years of silence from God. There were no new prophesies, no revelations, no recorded Holy Spirit activity in the earth, and then suddenly we have the angel Gabriel visiting Zechariah, Mary, and Joseph. And we have the Lord choosing to leave His throne on high to be born a humble birth so that He can reconcile mankind back into right relationship.

The birth of John the Baptist and the birth of Jesus came after a long period of percieved inactivity of God. Yet, He was working all things out even in the darkness. Even in the silence. Even in the stillness.

Even when there were no signs that Elizabeth would ever bear a child and she had long went through menopause, God was still working. Elizabeth was to bear a Holy Spirit filled son who had a mighty purpose and a destiny placed on his life, and because he had to pave the way for Jesus, he couldn’t have been born any sooner in Elizabeth’s life. But when she was going through the agony of barrenness, the pain was excruciating.

In that culture, to be barren was considered a curse from God. Yet, the bible calls Elizabeth and Zechariah righteous and blameless. He was not withholding a child from them, He was working to bless them with a child who would be remembered throughout all time as the cousin of Jesus and the one who paved the way for the ministry of Jesus.

So friends, in God’s silence, remember there are parts of the puzzle pieces of your life that you just can’t see yet. It doesn’t make sense to you, and God seems silent and inactive. You are NOT forgotten by God. He is working all things out for the good of those who love Him and put their trust in Him.

Elizabeth didn’t understand why she wasn’t bearing a child in her youth and she experienced decades of disappointment and possibly even discrimination, judgement, and gossip. Yet, she must have been holding onto the belief that the Lord would still bless her with a child because she says, “Blessed is the one who believes that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her. ”

She continued to trust. She continued to hold onto the promises of God. She continued to place her faith in God regardless of what she could see or couldn’t see in the natural around her. And she was greatly blessed!

This Christmas, let’s dare to hope again. Let’s pick up the promises of God for our life and believe that He will fulfill them. Let’s have renewed faith and trust that in the silence, God is still working.

Dear Heavenly Father,

What an amazing God You are to work out our redemption story with such exquisite detail. You are a miracle working God who is always on time. Lord, blow fresh air on our hope today and renew the fire inside of us. Let us hold tight to Your promises even in the times of silence.

His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied: “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come to his people and redeemed them. He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David (as he said through his holy prophets of long ago), salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us— to show mercy to our ancestors and to remember his holy covenant, the oath he swore to our father Abraham: to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve him without fear in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.
