Do you have a word for 2020?

Good Morning Gorgeous!

It’s a brand new day. A fresh new start! This is my first post of 2020 and firsts of any type sometimes carry some pressure to be over the top or to be “perfect.” Well I am choosing to not agonize over the first words of the year and instead just jump on here and share what’s on my heart. I am choosing to dive in and just begin otherwise I may be frozen in place for quite awhile letting my fears stop my tongue.

And isn’t that how fears work. They keep us stuck, frozen, unsure, and questioning our every move. Ever feel afraid to turn right or left? Ever look backwards and say, “No way am I ever turning back!” and then look ahead and say, “No way am I ever moving forward!”. There you stand stuck between what you know you have outgrown and been set free from, yet looking ahead you see the impossible.

Reminds me of the Israelites and the Parting of the Red Sea… there was no turning back because there were chariots of Egyptians ready to drag them back into slavery and moving ahead was impossible since they faced a wall of water!

Then two words that can be our own battle cry in literally ANY situation! BUT GOD…..

In everything you are facing today and in everything you face in 2020 and in anything that comes your way throughout your lifetime, you can fight back with a battle cry of “But God.”

He can change anything and everything. Nothing is too hard for the Lord. Nothing is impossible when you serve the Lord who hung the stars and the moon. Nothing shall be too hard for the One by which everything was created. He will sustain you all of your days and He will part seas, move mountains, and breathe new life into you. He will make the impossible, possible. Breathe in deeply, look your struggle in the eye and exhale as you say, “But God.”

Whatever is coming against you, I pray, “But God.”

Whatever dream is ahead that seems just out of reach, “But God.”

Whatever diagnosis has been spoken to you, I speak over you, “But God.”

Whatever fear is attacking your peace, I rebuke it with, “But God.”

Friends, God is in control and He gets the final say and He promises to never leave you, never forsake you. He promises to keep you in perfect peace despite the trial or the struggle. I will be praying, “But God.”

I have been praying for the Lord to give me a word to cling to for 2020. He is still clarifying it for me and I haven’t fully heard my word yet. I am thinking it may be that very phrase, But God.” A reminder through any storm that He is in perfect control and He can part the sea, move the mountain, tear the veil, crush the enemy, reverse the curse. He is God and I am not. He is Lord and nothing, absolutely nothing I face is too big for Him.

I am in prayer that in the coming days, God will speak to you personally and intimately and give you a word that is for you to hold onto in 2020 as you trust Him in deeper, stronger ways. If you have a word, please share it below to inspire others!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Here we are boldly seeking you as this new year begins. It is sure to be a year of growth if we keep our eyes feasted on You, our ears inclined to what You have to say, and our feet moving in obedience to where You are calling us. Lord, speak to us and help us to hear what You are saying. Give us ears to hear, eyes to see, and feet that obey. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
