Expecting a Move from God

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh start. A new day to rise and receive a fresh outpouring of the last promise spoken by Jesus before He ascended to heaven.

Today is Pentacost Sunday. It’s cause for GREAT celebration! A reason to dance and sing and worship and just get fired up in celebration just as we would on Christmas and Easter! Pentacost is the fulfillment of Jesus’s last promise to His disciples before He ascended to Heaven.

Here is Acts 1:4-11. Everything in bold is Jesus’s actual words!

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
Acts 1:4‭-‬11 NKJV

Now, the disciples were left to anticipate this move of God. They were to wait on the POWER. The Holy Spirit was going to come and enter the hearts of believers! We were going to become living, walking, temples of the Holy Spirit. We were going to be able to live out what Jesus said earlier in John when He declared that we would be able to do even greater things than Him!

How could Jesus tell mere mortals that they AND ALL who BELIEVED would be able to also perform miracles? Because of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that was to come after He was seated at the right Hand of the Father!

Jesus would send the helper, the advocate, the Holy Spirit to dwell inside of us and empower us to live according to the spirit and not our flesh. This was exactly what Jesus did. He lived according to His Spirit, not His human flesh suit that He temporarily embodied.

Jesus spoke numerous times of this promise!

And He gives a strong warning about Holy Spirit.

And it was fulfilled JUST as Jesus promised! 10 days after His ascension to heaven came the Holy Spirit. This was 50 days after His resurrection and just as His death coincided with the Old Testament celebration of Passover, His outpouring of the Holy Spirit coincided with the Old Testament Festival of Weeks which…… this makes me want to jump and shout..…. celebrated the harvest!!!!

Friends, we are empowered for a GREAT Harvest! The Lord sent the Holy Spirit so that the disciples could go to the ends of the earth and gather up souls for the kingdom of God. He was releasing His offer of salvation and adoption to ANYONE who believed in Jesus. Jews first and then Gentiles alike were baptized with the Holy Spirit signaling to the world that this beautiful Jesus was for everyone. God is for you and God is for me. He is inviting us to walk empowered lives filled with miracles and signs and wonders. Filled with bringing heaven’s order to earth so that we can live an abundant life and draw people to Christ through LOVE and the Power of the Kingdom. This is our Holy Inheritance to be used here and now for kingdom living and kingdom harvest.

I am over the top excited today! I will be attending church in person today for the first time since quarantine!!! I am eagerly expecting God to move in a fresh, new way. Just as the disciples waited in the upper room expectantly for God to fulfill His promises and send Holy Spirit, I am waiting expectantly for God to touch me afresh today. To speak something new into me. To empower me to do a new thing for Him.

So, today in celebration and remembrance of Pentacost, begin to anticipate Him and what He is going to do afresh in your life. Pray for a fresh outpouring of Holy Spirit into you. That you would receive fresh power from Heaven. Just as we pause and celebrate Jesus’s birth on Christmas and His resurrection on Easter, we can also celebrate His Power poured out through the miracle at Pentecost! And just as He continues to come to all who believe in Him, He continues to empower us through the baptism of the Holy Spirit!

Dear Heavenly Father,

We cry out to You today hungry for more of You. Wherever we are in our walk with You, we know You have even more to pour in us! More power, more revelation, more love. Lord, fill us to overflow with Your Power and give us wisdom to use Your gift of Holy Spirit to walk as Jesus walked, filled with love for everyone we meet. Let us be grieved for what grieves You. Let us walk and talk and move according to Your Spirit that dwells inside of us!

In Jesus’s name, Amen.
