I am Safe: God is my Refuge

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh new start, and God is on the move! He is an alive and well, on the throne, active God who is holding His followers in the palm of His Hand.

One of my spiritual mothers used to tell me that when you feel tossed and turned and upside down and things are falling apart, you are still safe in His Hands. She would cradle her hands together and show them rocking like a boat in a storm and say even though you feel the rocking, you are right here in His Hands safe and secure.

That visual has helped me through many dark hours. And sometimes when we feel attacked, open to the elements, stepping out of the boat in faith, or rocking in uncharted waters, we perceive our immediate circumstances and believe that we are unsafe.

There are times when fear is tied to a real threat of course. That is the purpose for the emotion. It keeps us backing up from danger, but fear unchecked can also keep us backing away from God given assignments and freeze us in place.

Fear that is not related to an actual threat, but rather perceived failure, fear of failure, or fear of the unknown can send messages to our brain that we are unsafe when in fact we are completely safe, and in actuality our breakthrough is just waiting on a step of faith.

And as you step out in faith, break through the walls of fear, and do whatever the next scary step is for you, God is STILL holding You safely in His Hands.

There is verse after verse after verse in Psalms and throughout the bible about God being our safe place and our refuge. Here are just a few of the many verses!

I will say of the Lord , “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Psalms 91:2 NIV

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Psalms 9:9 NIV

Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge.Psalms 16:1 NIV

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalms 46:1 NIV

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans. Psalms 118:8 NIV

You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. Psalms 119:114 NIV

“As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. 2 Samuel 22:31 NIV

The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him,Nahum 1:7 NIV

These were just a few I handpicked from dozens upon dozens of verses on God being our safe place, our refuge, and our ever present help.

You gorgeous child of God are safe to step ahead into the unknown places that He is calling you to. He is calling you ahead and out of the boat. He is calling you ahead to possess new land. He is calling you forward for destiny and purpose. He is calling you to new ministries. He is calling you to say yes to new places, new opportunities, new bold steps for Christ!

And as you say yes to God, a great I am statement is: I am safe. Speak truth right into the fear. Speak truth right into the lies that say you can’t accept all that God has designed you for!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Wrap us up in the safety of Your arms. Help us to remain in the safety of your loving Presence so that we can be bold and move ahead in faith equipped by You for all we are designed to do. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
