How to have Peace through Anything: Even in the Midst of a Pandemic

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh start. A new day to rise up and stand firm in the ground that has already been won for you.

Jesus came and abolished everything that could have power over you. He rendered your enemy powerless. He made powerless sin, dysfunction, everything warring against your mind and your peace, and even conquered death.

Friends, death could NOT hold Him, and when you accept Him as your Lord and Savior, it cannot hold you either!!

Jesus has conquered it all, so that despite anything that you face, you can find peace in Him. You can rest in the boat that is being tossed and turned by the mighty winds and crashing waves. Everything can give way beneath your feet, and yet you have something that the world doesn’t: unconditional peace and joy.

Jesus gives a supernatural peace and joy that doesn’t rest dependent on anything happening or not happening in your life.

This peace is part of your Holy inheritance. And not an inheritance that you receive when you die. An inheritance is given to the living. The inheritance is given to you because Jesus’s death released it when He triumphed over death and ascended to heaven.

He sent Holy Spirit to minister and release the inheritance to His children.

In the Old Testament, the Lord delivered the Israelites into the promised land. He drove out every enemy before them, and gave them a beautiful, bountiful land. He delivered them right into it, and then they had responsibility to keep the land. They had to stand firm and not allow the land to be taken back by their enemies.

The same is true today. Jesus has abolished the power of sin. He has freed you from the heaviness of carrying your own burdens. He has made a way for you to enter into a type of peace that He has prepared for you in His Presence. He has taken the ground of peace and joy and freedom and given it to you. You have a responsibility to receive the gift of peace and then fight to keep His gift of peace in the midst of a world trying so hard to take it from you.

The battle for your peace is already done. It’s already available. It’s yours freely if you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ.

Here is how to receive and keep it! It is written clearly in Philippians.

If you look at these verses closely, the keys to peace are there!

1. Rejoice, Worship, and Praise Him. This shifts something inside of us and moves us from eyeing the storm to eyeing the Savior. Just as Peter could walk on the water while he was eye to eye with Jesus, so too can you have peace in the storm when you praise God regardless of circumstances. Your praise moves you from seeing how big your problems are to a place where your eyes see that your God is even bigger than any problem in the earth.

2. With Prayer and Thankfulness, let your requests be known to God. Every time you feel worry rise up in your belly, imagine it as an alarm simply reminding you to pray. Scared about something, tell Him. Worried, anxious, on edge, tell Him.

Is there a breakthrough that you need?

A relationship issue?

A past trauma?

A burden to heavy to bear?

Tell Him! Let your requests be known to God.

AFTER you do these things, then look at the promise that comes next:

And the peace of God which surpasses understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Many times these verses are separated so that we don’t read the promise of peace as coming after we do something. These verses show that we have a part to play to receive the peace. We have an active role in opening our hands and receiving the gift of peace. These verses show us our part!

And then…..

Flee to Jesus. Praise Him, Pray to Him, Converse with Him. Sit in His Presence. Let Him give you peace and let that peace guard your heart from any other outside source crashing through.

Because of Jesus, you can experience peace right now amidst the Covid 19 pandemic. You can experience peace right in the midst of political division, racial tensions, fear driven decisions sweeping the nation, and yet you can STILL: rise to peace and rest to peace.

You can awaken to peace and fall asleep with peace because your peace is not dependent on the storm or lack of the storm. Your peace is dependent solely on Jesus, and He is the Eternal Rock.

Today, if you are feeling scared, worried, anxious, unsure of where to turn or what to do, pause and spend some time just telling Jesus everything.

Pour it all on His lap, and then be amazed at the peace that rushes in!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Teach us to give it all to You and receive the peace that Jesus gives. Teach us to live out these verses and really receive a peace that is beyond circumstances. Teach us to linger in Your Presence until we have received in full what You have for us. Lord, teach us to receive and guard our peace. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

An I am statement for you to declare. “I am guarding my peace.”

Speak it again and again all day long. “I am guarding my peace.”
