Part 1: Who are you?

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh, new start.

Do you have revelation of who you are today?

Do you know what God says about you?

What He says about you goes especially when you are brave and bold enough to hold His Word up and claim it to be true.

He is your banner. Your identity. Your Creator and what He says is the final Word. Will you walk in the fullness and the truth of who God says you are?

How can you claim to be saved? God says.

How can you claim eternal life? God says.

How can you claim to be the child of the living God? God says.

How can you claim to be preplanned, predestined, and here with a mighty, divine purpose? God says.

How can you claim to be filled with the power to speak and mountains move? God says.

How can you say that you even have the power to do miracles like Jesus and in collection with other believers even perform miracles greater than Jesus? God says.

When we have revelation of what God says, we can stand tall and firm against questioning from anyone or any demonic spirit.

And if you are walking in your identity from God and you are using your God given talents to do what God has called you to do, you will face persecution and the voices of the enemy asking you, “Just who do you think you are?” So be ready with an answer. An answer with God given authority.

John the Baptist was brought under question. He was asked by the Pharisees very directly who he was.

You see, there had been 400 years of silence. There had been 400 years without a Word from God to the people, 400 years without a prophet speaking to the people. 400 years of studying the scriptures and waiting for a sign from God, and waiting for the long desired Messiah who would come to save.

Then John the Baptist begins boldly teaching repentance and he is baptizing people in the water. He has a bold message, and he is speaking it without any holding back. The teachers of the law, the ones who know the scriptures in and out catch word of this and they want answers. Just who does this man think he is?

Are you the long awaited Messiah? No

Are you Elijah? No

Are you the Prophet? No

Fine, then who are you?

John never stumbles, never falters, never stutters. He stands tall and firm on the solid ground of the Word of God regarding Him. He quotes scripture! He quotes the ancient scripture regarding who he was. You see he was prophesied about back in Isaiah, and John knew exactly who he was through a revelation of God. He knew who he WAS and he knew who he was NOT.

He said, “I am a voice calling in the wilderness, “Make straight a way for the Lord.”

Wow, what a revelation! To know who you are and to know the call of the Lord on your life. To know your Holy assignment, and to be so sure of it that when you are called under question, you can boldly declare it.

He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, “I am not the Messiah.” They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” He answered, “No.” Finally they said, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, “I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.’ ”

When you are asked the same question by people or by the taunting of the enemy in your ear… “Who are you? Who do you think you are preaching Christ? Do you know what you have done in your past? Do you know what your shortcomings are? Do you know that you don’t have the background or the intelligence or the education or the ___________ to be able to ____________?”

You can fill in the blanks because the enemy will even make it personal to your weakest beliefs about yourself as he taunts you with the question….

Who are you?

I dare you to be as bold as John and tell him and anyone else who asks exactly what scripture says about you.

And those are just a few to mediate on and be ready to speak back whenever the enemy gets loud in your ear asking, “Who you think you are?”

Whenever you move ahead in destiny, expect push back. The enemy fears believers who know exactly who they are in Christ, because if we know, then we will act. And as we act, we exercise our God given power. And our power can tear down strongholds and break enemy forces and our knowledge of who we are is the key to our victory.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Strengthen our testimony of who we are in Christ. Make us bold speakers and doers of the Word that You have spoken over us. Make us fully aware of who You say we are just as John the Baptist had full revelation of who he was. Lord, put the Word on our tongue ready to be spoken as needed. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

Blessings!

Vanessa Lynn

  1. Amen. I am his daughter and your sister.
Before I read this I was planting seeds in my garden before it was too hot humid..I humming the song from crosby stills nash. I am yours you are mine. We are what we are. .. had no idea why that verse popped in my head.
Funny that my reading for today was : john 15:1 I am the true vine and my father is the gardener. Everytime I meditate I think of my body as a tree , branches my kids, my feet the roots touching earth and my handsnds holding God’s. Above.
