Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh new start. A new day to rise and flee to Jesus as your shelter in the storm. A new day to run to Him and let Him be your unyielding place of strength and peace.

A pastor at my church shared the ending of Psalm 29 out of the amplified version with us in church yesterday, and I was hanging on every word.

Then, this morning I read the whole Psalm. Wow! Wow!

A few things to note, it’s a psalm of David and also the title is: The Voice of the Lord in the Storm.

Many of Davids’s psalms were written when he was in distress, when he was hard pressed on all sides, and there seemed to be no escape.

He writes many of the psalms as a way to encourage his soul while in the depths of the darkness. During times of deep distress and anguish, David would magnify the Lord. In the middle of his darkest hours, he would turn to the light of the Lord. He would worship Him with psalms that would remind David’s soul of God’s magnitude, power, and holiness. These psalms would take David’s eyes off of the storm and instead focus on God.

From that place, he could withstand any pressure, any grief, and any valley low.

In Psalm 29, David reminds his soul who is ultimately in charge. He names God as Lord over the struggle. Lord over the heavy waters. He magnifies Him as powerful, majestic, and ABLE to break the struggles.

He ends with a most beautiful reminder and promise.

The Lord is king forever.

He gives unyielding and impenetrable strength to His people. He will bless His people with peace.

Psalm 29: A Psalm of David

Ascribe to the Lord , O sons of the mighty, Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty and majesty of His holiness [as the creator and source of holiness].

The voice of the Lord is upon the waters;

The God of glory thunders; The Lord is over many waters.

The voice of the Lord is powerful; The voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; Yes, the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.

He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, And Sirion (Mount Hermon) like a young, wild ox.

The voice of the Lord rakes flames of fire (lightning). The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; The Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

The voice of the Lord makes the doe labor and give birth And strips the forests bare; And in His temple all are saying, “Glory!”

The Lord sat as King at the flood; Yes, the Lord sits as King forever. The Lord will give [unyielding and impenetrable] strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace.

This morning, you can flee to Jesus and receive the same promise. Impenetrable strength. Unyielding strength that refuses to bend at bad news. Strength that is greater than all your struggles. Strength that is in greater measure than anything stacked against you. Strength that can’t be penetrated by any enemy weapon. AND

Peace that is yours in all seasons, through all storms and all valleys and all trials.

To receive that type of strength and peace, you return again and again to the Lord. He said in His Word that it was available to His people. That’s anyone who has received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

If Christ is your King, peace and strength are your holy inheritance. Receive them both today by faith and walk freshly filled! Walk with new wells of strength and new doses of peace guarding your heart and mind.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We ask for this peace and strength that David writes about in Psalm 29. Lord, give us an unyielding strength that cannot be shaken or broken down. Give us a peace that the world cannot take. Lord, we recieve Your promise of strength and peace by faith. We trust that we have received it. Help us to walk strengthened and peace filled today. In Jesus’s name, Amen..
