Advent Day 6: Light of the World

Good Morning Gorgeous!

It’s a brand NEW day. A fresh NEW start.

There’s 19 days until Christmas!

This Christmas, slow down, pause, and reflect on the Names of Jesus.

Light is a form of energy that sustains life.
Light drives out darkness.
Where there is light, darkness has no fighting chance.
When you flick on a light, the dark and the light don’t battle.
The dark simply flees. The light prevails.
Every morning there is NO battle between the sun and the dark. Each day the sun rises and causes dark to cease. Just like that.. Sun Rises.. darkness ends.
Every. Single. Day.

The darkness is no match for the light.

The light brings forth life and is a mighty force, whereas the darkness is simply the absence of the light.

It has no power, just an apparent lack of light.

The Light is another prophetic name given to Jesus hundreds of years before He came to earth in the flesh.

Here is the prophecy in Isaiah:
The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined. Isaiah 9:2 Jesus would come and shine His bright light into many forces of darkness. In the gospel of Luke, we see a similar prophecy to the one given in Isaiah!

Zechariah, who was a priest and father of John the Baptist, prophesied  this about JESUS:

Through the tender mercy of our God, With which the Dayspring from on high has visited us; To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.”  Luke 1:78‭-‬79

Jesus was coming to reveal what was previously hidden.
Jesus,  The Light of the world, would shine a light on the harsh religious systems that man had instituted.

He would shine a light on the way to live fully for God.

He would shine a light on sin and heal it in the light.

He would shine a light on the value of women and elevate them.

He would shine a light on racial division.

He would preach caring for one another
regardless of cultural, economic, or social differences.

He would shine a light on the division between Gentiles and Jews.

He would shine a light on the very hearts of men.

And ultimately, He would shine so brightly as He sacrificially drew His final breath in His earthly body that death couldn’t hold Him. Even the sinister darkness of the crucifixion had no power over the Light of the World.

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:4‭-‬5

He broke the curse of sin and death and did something radical! (As if that wasn’t already really radical) He took up residence inside His followers and sent them out to be the light of the whole world. He chose you to be filled with His Holy Light and declared,

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

Matthew 5: 14

You’ve been anointed to shine brightly.

Does the world seem depressing, filled with trouble, and too dark to bear?

This is the prime space for Jesus to flow from you. Every place your feet tread, light breaks forth.

Open your mouth to speak, and light spills forth.

Walk into a room, and light spills forth.

You are a walking lamp in a dark world. Stay connected to the Power Source, which is Jesus. Spend regular time with Him in prayer, worship, and reading the Word.  As you surrender to Him, Jesus will shine through you everywhere you go.Jesus came into the world as THE LIGHT, making His followers CARRIERS of His Light. And it gets even BETTER!

In Revelation, He is revealed as the Light Source of Heaven! In the New Jerusalem, the very Light is Jesus Himself. Jesus has removed everything that stood between you and Himself, and you can stand fully in the Light without any shame, fear, guilt, or burdens of this life. You will be free from all darkness and able to be in the purity of the Light. Imagine the glory up ahead for your eyes to behold!

Dear Lord,
Thank You for being the Light of the Whole World! Thank You for breaking through into the darkness of our lives and shedding Light and Revelation into the spaces that I  used to stumble in darkness. Lord, I invite You to come and Light up any area where I may still be holding onto darkness. Come and make all things come into Your healing Light. Lord, anoint me with Your Light so I can be like a bright city on a hill for all to see. Lord, assign people to me who need Your Light, and help me to be bold and courageous enough to share it humbly and with vulnerability. Lord, make me willing to show my real, authentic self to the world without a mask of religion. Make me an open vessel pouring out the Light and Love of Jesus

      In Jesus Name, Amen.
