Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh new start. All things are being made NEW.

Christmas is in FULL swing! Our home is decorated. Our oldest daughter is baking cookies almost daily. Christmas movies are playing.

And in the midst of the celebrations and the traditions, there is a deep yearning of our soul to slow down and soak in Jesus.

Our Creator, the One who chose us for this very time in history is calling us to know and experience Him deeper.

On this 8th day of Advent, let’s soak in the revelation that He is the Son of the Most High!

All throughout the Bible, the Lord is referred to as the Most High. He is the Most High over all, over everything, there is nothing above Him. 

This Name spoken by the angel Gabriel confirms the status of Jesus. He is the Son of the Most High. He would be a baby born of both royalty from the line of King David and also divinely from the Most High God. Gabriel is speaking identity of who Christ is and setting Him apart. This child to born will be from the Most High God. AND this baby will be given the throne.

Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.  And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.  He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.  And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”

That is the promise that the Jewish people were waiting for. They were waiting on their King.

  And Jesus was born to be their Savior, Redeemer, and King and also ours because the promise was extended to include all who call on the name of Jesus.

Now, Jesus would walk a blameless life before God and men. Then, He offered Himself as the atonement for sins so that all followers of Jesus could receive the wonderful gift of salvation AND also a new identity and status.When we refer to Him as the Most High, we recognize He is above everything in our life.

Satan and the demons are fully aware of this name of Christ.

When satan was cast out of heaven, he desired to be like the Most High.
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,I will be like the Most High.’ Isaiah 14:14

And when demons encountered Christ in the flesh, they often cried out names that revealed they knew His identity. They would cry,  “Son of God, God’s Holy One, and Son of the Most High.” When Jesus met the demonized man among the tombs, the demons cried,

“What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me.” Mark 5:7

After His resurrection, Jesus greeted His disciples with this, 

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 
Next, He gave the disciples authority to expand the ministry to all nations! 
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Matthew 28: 18-20

Jesus is the Lord Most High, worthy of your surrender, adoration, and praise. When you received Christ as your Lord and Savior, you became a brand new creation and were given a new identity. You’ve been given the spirit of sonship, and now you can call the Lord “Abba, Father.” The Most High has become your Father, too!

Why is that important? It makes you a child of the Most High; you now have a holy inheritance and a royal identity! You have salvation, you have the seal of the Holy Spirit now to carry out the great commission of preaching Christ to others, AND the Bible clearly says in multiple places that you will rule and reign with Christ in His kingdom. 

Daniel prophesied this about you.

But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.’ Daniel 7: 18

Christ’s name, “Son of the Most High,” given to Him by the angel Gabriel, gives Him the right to be placed on the throne as King. Your faith in Christ gives you access to royal privileges and responsibilities as a born-again child of the  Most High God. There is an additional, incredible promise in ALL of this. Jesus is returning in FULL glory King of all kings, and His full reign as King means something for His followers—that’s you if you follow Jesus! It may seem nearly impossible to imagine yourself as a Holy Leader in Christ’s government. Still, His Word is clear that is to come for His Holy People.

When Jesus returns as King, all His faithful followers will rule in His Kingdom with Him. We will actively participate in His Holy government. Jesus, son of the Most High gave authority to you now in the Great Commission to preach, heal, and deliver His People, and He will give you authority to rule with Him in eternity as well.

Dear Lord,
            Your plans for us are astounding! They are hard to fathom because they are so marvelous. You have plans to prosper and give me a beautiful future. And these prophetic promises declare that I will have an ETERNAL future with you as a ruler of the restored Kingdom. That is hard to grasp, but I choose to trust Your Word! And that’s what Your Word repeatedly says in the Old and New Testaments. You are setting up a Kingdom, and those who trust You can now be part of it! Thank You, Lord. Please help me to walk eternally minded-today. Help me to be aware of how temporary this current life is and what beauty is in store for those who love You and place their faith in You.
