Christmas Stories Day 5 and 6

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh start. A new day to rise and fix our eyes on the miraculous birth of our Savior, Jesus. Don’t let a single day slip by this season where you are not in awe of these events that changed the world radically and forever. Because of Jesus:

We are reconciled to right relationship with the Lord.

We are forgiven and free.

We are healed, whole, and of a sound mind.

We have full access to the throne room of heaven.

We are redeemed sons and daughters of the King of the Entire Universe. There is no ruler higher than Jesus Christ.

He changed everything. Turned religion upside down and went straight for the hearts of men. He is after your heart and your affection today.

Quiet the todo lists for just a little while. Take your eyes off of the next event. Stop planning just momentarily. Stop rushing. Push the pause button and say yes to Jesus. Say yes to the only one who can fill you with a complete and total peace. Say yes to the one who can satisfy when every other method of fulfillment has left you empty. Say yes to hitting your knees in prayer and awe of your Lord. Say yes to His gifts this season. He has peace and healing and communion with Him all waiting for you.

And when He pours out His gifts onto us, let our response be more like Mary’s than Zechariah’s. Both were visited by the angel Gabriel. Both were found to be righteous and in God’s favor. Both were doing the will of God. Yet, when they experienced miraculous activity from heaven, their responses revealed their heart.

Zechariah asked a question that revealed his doubt, “How can I be sure of this because me and my wife are old?” A lifetime of disappointment has left him afraid to hope, afraid to receive his miracle, afraid to be hurt again.

Mary’s innocence and trust flows from her question and her response.” How can this be since I am a virgin?” Its an incredulous question, more of a tell me more please. She doesn’t fully understand how this could happen, so she presses for more details. How will this occur? (Mary’s question) Is a different question than, “How can I be SURE this will occur? (Zechariah’s question)

One doubts if it will even happen, and the other simply questions how it will be done.

And then Mary fully trust and submits with, “I am the Lord’s servant, may your word to me be fulfilled.”

What Trust! I will ponder that and unpack that in my next blog post… Just begin to imagine what she just agreed to with such trust and faith.

Friends, Christmas is all about remembering these stories. Reveling in them. Soaking in them. Taking them in and pondering the events that brought our Savior from His seat on High and into the earth to save His creation. Take time to think and be filled with the Joy that only comes from time with Him.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Prepare our hearts for you. Bring us into Your arms and reveal to each person Your love and the gifts You have for them. Help us to receive our miracles and our breakthroughs with faith and trust.

In Jesus’s name. Amen
