Good Morning Gorgeous,
It’s a brand new day. A fresh new start. A new day to rise unto the Lord and praise Him!
Praise Him because you woke up today.
Praise Him because there is breath in your lungs and a heartbeat on the inside of you.
Praise Him because He has delivered you from sin and given you the promise and hope of salvation.
Praise Him because He is with you in the storm and in the victory.
Praise Him because He is good in all seasons, even the coldest winter.
Praise Him because you are filled with joy or praise Him because your joy is coming!
The Lord gives peace and joy to those who place their trust in Him. As you choose to put your eyes back on Him again and again despite the current weather, peace will be your prize.
As we give thanks and you praise Him, something shifts on the inside of us, and fear is broken, darkness flees, while peace invades and joy bubbles up.
The act of praise shifts our eyes from the storm and onto the Lord. As we lock eyes with Him, strength rises, courage rises, and we receive whatever our soul needs.
And as you praise, He will turn your mourning into dancing!
Today I read Psalm 30. This is another psalm of David. It is written as a song of praise and thanksgiving at the dedication of the temple. It is also a song praising and thanking God for deliverance from death.
David had revelation of eternal life and recognized that this life was not the end. He had revelation that even if this life were filled with sorrow, the sorrow would not remain, because the Lord has saved us from death.
Friends, deliverance is available both now and also in heaven. We are able to praise the Lord like David because we have the hope and promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ AND we also have the Holy Spirit empowering us now.
We have deliverance today and for all of eternity.
Psalm 30
I will extol and praise You, O Lord , for You have lifted me up, And have not let my enemies rejoice over me.
O Lord my God, I cried to You for help, and You have healed me.
O Lord , You have brought my life up from Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead); You have kept me alive, so that I would not go down to the pit (grave).
Sing to the Lord , O you His godly ones, And give thanks at the mention of His holy name.
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may endure for a night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning.
As for me, in my prosperity I said, “I shall never be moved.” By Your favor and grace, O Lord , you have made my mountain stand strong; You hid Your face, and I was horrified.
I called to You, O Lord , And to the Lord I made supplication (specific request). “What profit is there in my blood (death), if I go down to the pit (grave)?
Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness [to man]?
“Hear, O Lord , be gracious and show favor to me; O Lord , be my helper.”
You have turned my mourning into dancing for me; You have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
Psalms 30:1-12 AMP
If you are mourning today, grieving a loss, sitting in inexplicable pain, I encourage you to start to praise the Lord. It may take every ounce of energy and courage you have. It may feel impossible if your pain is deep, but push through. Push and praise Him. As you praise the Lord, mountains will move in your heart. Fresh salve will be released from heaven. Something will shift for you. And every time the pain returns, praise Him again.
You can sing your praise by turning on worship music or you can simply pray your praises. They can be as simple as thanking the Lord and renewing your commitment to trust Him.
A prayer of praise:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We praise Your Holy Name because You alone are Lord. We lift up Your name and say Thank You for walking with us, Thank You for never leaving us or forsaking us. Even in the darkest hour of my life, I will turn my eyes to You. You are my Lord, my Savior, my breakthrough, and my healing. I praise You for the breath in my lungs. I praise You for working even when I cannot see it. I trust You Lord even while my soul is mourning. I trust that joy is going to break forth even though it seems impossible right now. You are the God of impossible!
In Jesus’s name, Amen.
I have always loved that passage. We “mourn” many things, some important, others…not so much. This passage tells us that we need to find JOY in all things, especially when it’s hard. With God, this is possible!!
And the kids Sunday school class that I teach we’ve been talking about being grateful… And I love that we have classified 2020 as yuck BUT the honest truth is I can think of waaayyyyy more to praise Him over than to complain about it!!!🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Yes, a good lesson for all of us. My students and I listed what we were grateful for today and the list was loooong! !
Awesome!!! Love that!!!
