Countdown to Christmas: 22 Days…… Jesus: The Light of the Whole World

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh new start.

A new day to rise and allow Jesus to shed His light on anything that is dark.

A new day to allow His light to reign and be placed above everything else in our lives so that everything is lit up with clarity.

A new day to receive and accept the light of Jesus afresh and anew.

A new day to walk in His light and follow His light wherever it goes.

A new day to let His light infiltrate us so that we are carriers of His light into the darkness of the world.

A new day to let His light shine through us and touch everyone we encounter both on social media and face to face.

A new day to let His light be the driving force behind every decision, every post, every action, and every reaction.

Let it all be done in the light and also allow yourself to be equipped by the Light.

And a new day to wait in hopeful expectation for the return of Christ in His full glory as the only LIGHT by which everything will be illuminated.

Jesus is the light, and where there is light darkness flees.

Light, even a flicker in the dark, can make darkness go and things become clear and in focus.

John 1 declares that Jesus came into the world as the Light.

In Matthew, Jesus charged His followers to be the light by letting Him shine through us.

And in Revelation, He is described as the only light that we will need!

The gospel of John was written by the disciple John to the Jews. He was showing them that Jesus was the Lord Himself, He had always been, by Him all that exists was created, and next He sets the record straight about who John the Baptist was and who Jesus was.

There were many Jews who thought that John the Baptist may have been the Messiah. Two men, obviously sent from God had just walked among them preaching bold messages of repentance and salvation. Both men had been killed violently, and the Jewish people were trying to put the pieces together and make sense of who these two obviously anointed and Holy Spirit filled men were.

So, as the gospel of John continues, he sets the record straight about who John the Baptist was and who Jesus was so that there is no confusion that Jesus was the One they had been waiting for, and John’s role was to pave the way.

Here is John 1: 6-13

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 1:6‭-‬13 NKJV

Notice the capital L? Jesus is the Light of the Whole World. He was the True Light that came to give light to every man coming into the world!

Jesus came and brought light and hope into a world that was filled with darkness. Now, because of His bright light that came into the world, hope was restored and He dwells inside of men and women so brightly that He called us “cities on a hill.”

Jesus Himself assigned us to now be the light of Jesus as we carry Him forward until He returns again. This is the time we reside in now. The time when believers are called to be the Light of Jesus!

Jesus has brought the Light into the world and when He ascended to Heaven, He filled His followers and also every follower after with His light to shine for all to see!

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:14‭-‬16

And what do we await next? The fulfillment of all things written so that we are with Jesus in His full glory as the only Light by which we will see.

Revelation 21:22-27 gives us a glimpse into the glory that we expectantly wait for!

But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Revelation 21:22‭-‬27 NKJV

Friends,

First, He came and brought the light!

Then, He entrusted us with the light!

And last, He will return in full triumphant glory as the complete, total, only light we will ever need.

What a promise as we eagerly anticipate Christmas! Jesus was born and light entered the world!

Just as He fulfilled that promise, so will He fulfill the promise of His triumphant return!

We have so much to hope for, anticipate, and eagerly desire. We are not a hopeless people who live in terrible times.

We are a blessed, anointed holy people carrying the Light of Jesus, entrusted with it and called to share it until His return.

Soak and sit on that awesome truth!

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are gooooooooood! You have revealed Yourself to us as the Light, called us to also be stewards of Your Precious Light, and You will return again and provide the Light in full glory!

Praise be to You! Praise be unto You! Let praises rise up and out of us to You our Holy King and Light of the world!

In Jesus’s name, Amen.

Blessings to each of you as you eagerly await the Light of the world, Jesus!
