Countdown to Christmas: 23 Days…. Where was Jesus before His birth in the earth?

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh new start. A brand new day to rise and keep going.

A new day to meditate on the scriptures and allow the truth of Jesus capture your heart.

Today, I am thinking about the question: Where was Jesus before His earthly birth?

John answers this question in John 1. He explains that Jesus is the Word, and that He was there at the beginning of the World. Through Him, all things were created. He is God Himself.

Jesus is the physical manifestation of God that we can see. He is the Word, He is Jesus, He appeared in different manifestations throughout the Old Testament.

How can Jesus be God if God is the Father and how does Holy Spirit fit in? All three Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one God. A bit hard to wrap our minds around, but as we wait in expectation for Jesus, it’s important we know who we are waiting for! The Lord Himself who loved His people so passionately, so fully, so wildly, so deeply, and so widely that He left His seat on high to take on the constraints of humanity and be born from a woman so that He could pass the temptation test that Adam failed and then offer Himseld blemish free for all of humanity!

The author of I Dared to call Him Father, explained the trinity relationship of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit by comparing the Lord to the Sun that gives heat, light, and energy. One sun with three distinct functions. The functions are not the sun, but they are ways the sun appears in the earth as warmth, light, and energy. Our Lord is one Lord who reveals Himself in different forms that we can understand and relate to.

That helps a little to wrap our minds around the trinity. My pastor says that he is glad that he can’t wrap his mind fully around God and His ways because if he could fully figure Him out then He wouldn’t be that big or powerful of a God. We can’t figure everything out because simply put: He is God and we are not. He is the Creator and we are those that He lovingly crafted and created.

Yet, we can seek wisdom and understanding and bring all the hard questions right to God and let Him answer them for us in a personal way.

Back to John 1. John explains Jesus as Lord since the beginning. The very first lines of John:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 1:1‭-‬5 NKJV

Doesn’t that make you want to jump and dance? Jesus was there at the beginning of creation! Jesus was the Word that was spoken that caused light to appear, land to separate, and life to fill the earth!

Through Jesus everything you see was made! He put the heartbeat in humanity. This Jesus, this creator Jesus chose you to be here, right now. He formed and fashioned you and placed your feet in the earth! This Jesus is who we celebrate this season.

John continues a few verses down and says this:

Wow! So let us not imagine incorrectly that Jesus’s beginnings were with His earthly birth or that He is a lesser form of the Father.

He is in fact Himself the Lord. We could not see the Lord, so the Lord gives us a manifestation of Himself that we can see and touch and hear! He comes in a form that we can relate to: a man!

I will continue to think on all these things and write more tomorrow….

For today, let us meditate and think about this amazing Lord that we serve that chose to enter earth and become fully man and also be fully God so that we could meet Him face to face and learn more about His heart?

Let us also realize the magnitude of the revelation that Jesus is the Creator AND Savior of the Whole World!

Dear Heavenly Father,

I am amazed by Your Word. I am in awe of how You manifest Yourself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You are such an amazing Lord and we anticipate Your coming!

In Jesus’s name,

Amen.

Blessings!

Vanessa Lynn
