Road Trippin’ Day 12: chatting with two young Mormons

Hey Gorgeous Friends,

We woke up this morning still at the RV park in Launch Pointe. The kids ran to play while we made breakfast.

We stayed at Launch Pointe and enjoyed the afternoon.

The kids handed out Popsicles to everyone in the water park.

We grilled burgers for lunch and then an icecream truck rolled by! So… more icecream was in order!!

And then a late afternoon trip to grandma’s house.

While we were there, two young elders from the local Mormon church stopped by. They were handing out copies of the book of Mormon. My grandma and I listened to their testimonies and they shared the story of Joseph Smith and how the book of Mormon came to be. After they shared their faith, Grandma and I shared our faith in Jesus Christ alone.

I commended the boys for their sharing of the gospel, and I also reminded them that salvation is found in Christ alone. There is no other name by which we can be saved but faith in Jesus. By Jesus Christ, we have been given the remission of our sins and the promise of eternal life. I encouraged them that as they shared the gospel message to remember to share Jesus over Joseph Smith. I gently told them that I heard them say Joseph Smith many more times than Jesus Christ and there is no other name by which we can be saved than Christ alone.

It’s important to remember that no matter what Christian denomination or church affiliation one joins, the One who saves is Christ and Christ alone. Religion won’t save you, Jesus made that very clear when speaking with the Pharisees and Sadducees. He again and again spoke against religious traditions that were just for show.

He instead taught the people how to enter a relationship with the Father.

And today, salvation is found in the same way. Coming to the Father through the righteousness found in Jesus Christ is how we are saved today, tomorrow, and for eternity.

I pray that these two sweet boys and all who seek after Christ find their salvation in Him alone.

Your pastor can’t save you.

Your priest can’t save you.

Your belief in the prophets can’t save you.

Your works can’t save you.

Your own righteousness can’t save you.

Your family’s faith can’t save you.

Your religion cannot save you.

Your belief in Christ alone is the way to salvation.

Its too easy some may say! Yep, that’s been the reason many have missed it. The Lord Himself left His place on high to take on flesh and walk the earth fully human and fully God, to die on the cross for every person with the desire that no one would perish, no not one… and He left very simple directions for us.

Believe in your heart, confess with your tongue, and you shall be saved. You will obtain righteousness through faith in Jesus!

Simple. And yet so profoundly life altering. Salvation through Christ. No heavy burden. No works to get you saved. Just a free gift from Jesus to us!

What a magnificent Lord we serve!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the awesome gift of salvation through Jesus. What a magnificent Father You are. You give so freely and so generously. You made a way for every one to be saved. Lord, I pray for eyes to be opened and ears to hear the gospel and receive it with gladness and the fullness of Your Joy!

In Jesus’s name, Amen.

Bkessings!

Vanessa Lynn
