Is there a Baptism of the Holy Spirit? (And if so, why do I need it?)

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh new start!!!

Every day is like that! NEW! New! New!

We get a fresh sunrise every day. A fresh chance every day. The sun rises and dispels all darkness. The darkness can’t stand in the light!

Throughout the Bible, God is continually on the move doing something NEW!

He creates earth right in the opening pages of Genesis! Something new!

He designs, fashions and breathes life into man! Something new!

He gives Abraham a promise and begins to speak of a chosen nation of peoples that would be His own treasure. Something new!

He delivers His people out of the hands of their oppressors by way of literally splitting a sea in half and guiding them with a cloud of fire! Something new!

He speaks the law and gives the ten commandments written by His own Hands. Something new!

He gives a promised land and His people become a rare monotheistic society that serve one God with actual fair justice laws, rights for women, protections for the poor, provision for those in need, and guidance on sanitation and cleanliness. Something new!

He works in power among His people shutting mouths of lions, speaking through prophets, healing the sick, delivering three boys from a firey furnace, winning wars that could only be won with a miracle, and just surprising His people over and over again with His ability to work in EVER NEW ways! Something new continually!

And then Jesus!!!! Wow! A virgin birth, a glorious star, angelic birth announcement to shepherds, water turning to wine, God speaking audible affirming His Son, blind eyes healed, deaf ears opened, lame walking, demons leaving people, and food being miraculously multiplied! New, New, New!!!

And Jesus stirred up all the “religious folk” with His New Move!

Healing on the Sabbath got them going.

Calling Himself the Son of God got them going..

Preaching about the destruction of the temple got them going.

Spending time with sinners got them going.

Telling people that their sins were forgiven got them going.

His teaching with authority that called them out on their hypocrisy got them going!

Why? It was all NEW and they like the old ways. They liked the safety of self righteousness and believing they had made the mark by following the law.

So, they crucified Him! But He was up to something NEW again! His shed blood would take the place of all the animal sacrifices the Old Covenant required and He would completely destroy the power of sin and death over His people! He triumphed right OVER DEATH and rose back to life!! How’s that for NEW?

But He wasn’t DONE!! A fulfillment of promise was coming. He was going to take up residence in the heart of everyone who believed this wild and amazing gospel!

How’s that for even more NEW? The temple of the Living God would now be people who believed in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, who died for their sins, and rose again and then resurrected to the Right Hand of the Father!

And there’s STILL MORE!!! Once He resurrected and took His seat in the throneroom of heaven, the long awaited promise of the Holy Spirit would come down and fill His people with POWER!!

Friends, Jesus is continually doing something NEW! Even NOW.

Don’t settle for just what you may have learned in church growing up or what you’ve experienced this far in your walk with God as all Jesus will ever do. Jesus is STILL moving in POWER and MIGHT and He is still performing miracles and He is still seeing people free.

He is a God of NEW. He is moving in power. He is working among His people. He is pouring out His Spirit afresh today and it’s available to you and I.

His disciples were common people, fishermen and tax collectors. He made them new and gave them a NEW message that all the preachers of the Jewish faith missed.

And its happening AGAIN.

Many, many churches are missing something very precious. Very precious. A treasure that God wants to give freely and in great doses, but humans who desire so badly to both control and understand everything shy away from it.

Many of those trained up in seminary and those who lead most of the American church are missing out on a great treasure Jesus died and ascended to heaven to pour out on His people.

The FULL Baptism of the Holy Spirit which would empower His believers to carry out the FULL great commission!

And this FULL baptism is completely available here and now to every believer who asks for it!

What do I mean by FULL baptism and FULL great commission?

I mean the SAME fullness of gifts available through the Holy Spirit as described in the books of ACTS and that overflow power to equip you to carry out every word that Jesus commanded before He ascended to the Father.

On the day of Pentecost, the Lord deposited a great treasure on the INSIDE of His people so that something could then come THROUGH them!

Peter filled with the Holy Spirit was now able to pour forth wisdom, teaching, revelation, and with authority that those who had all the head knowledge lacked. Peter had the POWER source and it wasn’t earned by him, it was GIFTED to him as an inheritance! A holy INHERITANCE!

Peter received first directly from the throneroom of heaven a NEW freshly poured out encounter with God and THEN was able to do ALL that God called him to do!!

And the SAME promise is available to US! Not a partial promise, not a piece of the inheritance, not an old 2,000 year later WEAKER Holy Spirit!!! Some people preach that these beautiful gifts of the Holy Spirit were for back then. But that’s not what is in the Bible! Peter preached that this promise was for ALL who believed as many as were far off! Friends, WE ARE the ALL and we are the FAR OFF! Those who would come to Jesus 2,000 years later get the SAME Holy Spirit!

A FRESH, FULL baptism is available for us now with the FULL and complete inheritance to be deposited inside of us so that we can carry out the FULL GREAT COMMISSION!

This is available to ALL who ask!

Friends! Everyone who Believes in the Name of Jesus and declares Him as Lord will be Saved! AND everyone who asks for the Holy Spirit WILL RECIEVE IT!!!

It’s scripturally sound and stated so preciously and clearly in the Bible. Remember that wildly famous verse in the Bible, ” Ask and you shall recieve. Knock and the door will be opened to you.”

Guess what Jesus was preaching about when He said that?! The beloved Holy Spirit!

“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
Luke 11:9‭-‬13 NKJV

So that verse that is so often quoted when we are praying for something or someone is actually referring to the precious gift of the Holy Spirit!!!

When we ask, Jesus will answer us and fill us.

When we seek, we will find.

When we knock, the door will be opened.

If you ask, and seek, and knock for the Holy Spirit, you will be given MORE of His Spirit!

Isn’t one baptism enough? We find in the opening pages of ACTS, that there is a second encounter with the Lord that involves receiving and stewarding POWER from the Lord. Jesus told His Disciples to tarry and wait for the power!

If you feel yourself getting anxious right now reading this or preparing your argument against a Holy Spirit baptism, ask yourself why? Pause and reflect? If there is more available to you than what you’ve already experienced in Christ, why would you turn it away?

What would cause you to say, “No way Jesus, even if there is more available to me, I don’t want that baptism.” ?

Fear? Uncertainty that these gifts could really be for you? Feelings of Unworthiness to recieve such a holy visitation from God Himself? Or preachers and teachers in your past who told you that the gifts have ceased? Where is that teaching in the scriptures?

The Bible actually teaches the opposite. It demonstrates a living Holy Spirit that is for the disciples AND their descendants AND all who are far off. As many as who will believe may receive the gifts! This was written in Joel in the Old Testament and then also quoted by Peter, the fisherman.

I call him a fisherman because the religious folk of the day just couldn’t wrap their minds around common people receiving from God so freely!

And that’s the same lie that many of our church leaders have told us too. That the Holy Spirit’s FULL manifestations of holy prayer language, healing, prophecy, teaching, and preaching is not for us today or at least not for every believer.

That’s just not true, it’s a lie from the enemy to keep believers from their complete and total inheritance.

Why?

Because once a believer receives their FULL inheritance, they walk in POWER and they begin to ALSO operate in the gifts of the Spirit that carry out the FULL commission of Jesus.

1. Preach the gospel

2. Lay hands on the sick and they will recover

3. Cast out demons that are afflicting God’s people

Not sure this is biblical?

Look at Jesus’s commission to His followers: (These were His last words recorded in Mark before He Ascended to Heaven. And if someone very precious to you had given you a final direction before they left, wouldn’t you believe it entirely? Like hang onto their every single word because it was the last thing you heard them say?)

And look at how you recieve it!

By faith through:

1. Asking

2. Seeking

3. Knocking

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is the POWER to accomplish ALL that God has called you to do. To carry out fully and completely every mission He assigns you to in the earth. You will walk with NEW assurance and authority.

Friends, even if you aren’t sure yet if you believe that this type of receiving from God is possible, would you dare to ask Him?

Get before Him in a quiet space where its just you and the Father and ask. Ask Him if there’s more that He desires to pour into you. Ask Him if there’s any areas in your walk with Him where you’ve accepted less than His best for you. Ask Him for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to you the fullness of the Holy Spirit Baptism. Ask for Him to prepare your heart to receive all He has for you, and then like Solomon asked for wisdom, ask for His wisdom to discern the truth of whatever He desires to reveal to you. And in faith ask to be baptized by His Holy spirit with every gift He wants to give you!

Remember Jesus’s OWN words. If a son asks for an egg, does his father give him a scorpion? And how much more will the Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask.

So ask, seek, knock, and you WILL receive.

I have SO much more to share! But this post is looong. In a near future post, I will share my own testimony of my journey to receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It was quite the journey!

*** If you have questions about this topic of Holy Spirit baptism please share them! We will grow and be sharpened through shared testimonies and questions that cause us to seek the Lord deeper!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Pour Your Spirit out on us! Pour out on Your sons and daughters. Awaken our spirits with hunger and thirst for MORE. More of what You desire to give us! Open our hearts, break down walls we’ve put up that prevent us from receiving everything You died to give us. Your sacrifice ratified a whole new covenant with us and we desire to open up ourselves to receive the full inheritance You have to give us! Let us humbly come before You with a posture to be willing to accept something NEW from You. Let each and everyone of us be willing to admit that no matter how long we’ve walked with You there’s still more to learn, more of ourselves to give up, and more of You to fill those spaces. Posture us to be humble receievers of whatever You as a Good, Good Father want to give us!

In Jesus’s Name,

Vanessa Lynn

If you are blessed, encouraged, or growing from these teachings, would you consider sharing them with others?

And if you came across this post and you haven’t yet accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, may I encourage you that by choosing Him you receive eternal life in heaven, BUT ALSO abundant life NOW. Following Him is the most precious adventure you have ever taken!! All you have to do to get started is to pray and receive Him as Lord. The Bible says to confess Jesus Christ as Lord and believe with your heart the precious gospel message that Jesus taught. Repent of your sins which means simply to ask Jesus to forgive you and then choose to walk away from them and go in the New Direction that God is calling you to. Confess or speak that you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died for you, that He was resurrected from the dead, and ascended to heaven. And that you recieve Him as your Lord and Savior. That you are sorry for your sins and you recieve His FULL and complete forgiveness for every wrong you’ve ever committed. And that you are choosing to follow Him now and leave the ways of the world behind for the things of Jesus!!! And if you mean that with your heart, you are saved and set free to live a new life free of sin! The Bible says you are now a brand new creation! Old things have passed away and new things have come!!! The Bible also says that all of heaven rejoices whenever a person is saved!!!! Just imagine the party being held in heaven on your behalf right now!!

  1. What a great teaching, lesson, and study all in one!! I’ve read from an NIV version for a while now but I love to compare different versions, so this was neat to see how a few different words used from another version of the Bible can help clarify or almost “freshly highlight” (for lack of better words) pieces of scripture that we’ve read numerous times before.

    So good!!
Keep sharing for His glory, sister!
