Day 12: Who is Jesus? LION of JUDAH

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh new start. A new day to rise and look to Jesus for your victory.

Friends, I had to really pray and study and read the scriptures and pray some more to gain some understanding of this name of Jesus, the Lion of Judah.

I’m sure there is still so much more to be revealed, but the big idea that I’ve taken away is that the Lion of Judah is the triumphant King Jesus who has conquered Every. Single. Enemy.

In the end, every enemy is conquered. Every enemy attack is canceled. Every enemy against the people of God is completely and totally conquered. Everything that has ever come against your mind, your health, your family, your destiny, your identity… it’s all conquered in the end by the Lion of Judah and the Lord’s reign will be for all of eternity.

And you who are God’s people are mentioned as well! What the Bible says about the Lion of Judah and the people who are His is mind blowing!

Just like the other names of Jesus, this one too first appears in Old Testament prophesy, is then fulfilled in Christ, and brought to completion at Christ’s return.

Jesus as the Lion who Rules from Judah is first mentioned in the blessing that Jacob speaks to his son Judah. Remember, Jacob is the son of Isaac, who was the son of Abraham, the one from whom the Israel nation would come.

Jacob had 12 sons who would become the 12 tribes of Israel. When Jacob was near the end of his life, he brought all 12 sons together to bless them. There is power and life and death in the tongue. Jacob speaks to his first three sons and the blessing is actually quite the opposite. He has harsh words for them and gives them what sounds more like discipline.

But then he gets to Judah, and the blessing flows forth. Judah is the first son to be blessed and the blessing states that the Sceptor will never depart from him. That the ruler’s staff will continue through his descendants until it ends with the “coming of the One to whom it belongs, the One whom all nations will honor.”

Friends, that’s Jesus!! When you get to the New Testament and you get to the lineage in Luke where it traces all of the generations from Jesus all the way back, and you may have wondered why it mattered anyway? Well, it traces Jesus’s lineage right back to the tribe of Judah which is the line of Kings! This is the same tribe from which King David and King Solomon would reign. Judah’s family line was blessed and prophesied to be the line that would continually rule and reign.

Yet, there have been multiple times in history that the rule was taken from Israel and they had no king. When Jesus was born was during one of those times. Israel had been taken into Babylonian captivity centuries earlier and they were waiting for the Messiah and Royal King to save them and rule again. That’s what they were waiting for, but when Jesus showed up, He was establishing an eternal Kingdom.

But what I realized studying this scripture is that the Lord’s Word gets the FINAL SAY! The Lord, through Jacob’s blessing said that Judah would always rule, and even though there was a time when it looked like that rule had ended, God had a restorative plan in motion. God would put Jesus on the throne and redeem the throne that appeared lost.

Friends, if you’ve had a promise spoken into your life, and it looks like it can’t possibly come true now because of circumstance, this shows that even when it looks like all hope is lost, God still has a plan of redemption and recovery.

Jesus recovered the throne, and He will rule forever and ever!

The next line in the blessing says that the ruler will have wine or the blood of grapes on His robe.

Fast forward to revelation and we see this ruler emerge on a white horse. He judges fairly and righteously. He has given every opportunity for people to turn to the Lord and repent and accept His promises. He has given sign after sign. He has been merciful and kind and patient. He has come in human form and healed, and taught, and died for His people to be washed clean. He has sent His own Spirit to show people the way. And He has watched His people be hurt by the evil of this world. He is returning to conquer and completely restore what was lost at the fall of man.

There is no foe of the Lord who is not either: drawn in by His love, repents, and becomes His beloved child OR who is conquered in the end and judged. We get to pick the side we want to be on.

He has blood on His robe, and He is conquering every enemy. All enemies will be completely and totally defeated. He has blood on His robe just like the prophecy stated in the blessing to Judah. That the final ruler and King would conquer all and have blood on His robe. This is the fulfillment of the blessing given to Judah! The Lion of Judah returning in fullness to rule without end. Look at His title: The Word of God. The Word of God is what spoke the whole world into existence and the Word of God will completely redeem it back from the enemy who tricked Adam and Eve in the garden.

And check out where you will be!!!!! You child of God will be FULLY and totally redeemed! Remember at the beginning of creation, the Lord called His creation of man, “Very Good”. Remember that no Word of God will return void. Remember that the Lord always fulfills what He says. Even when all hope seemed lost at the fall of Adam and Eve, God had a plan and we see it completed in the next verse here in Revelation…. You will be returning with Christ!!! And even though, He will have His garments dipped in blood, you will be completely clothed in WHITE!!!!

The scripture says that the angel armies of the Lord will be dressed in full white, riding on white horses, and following behind Him..

The armies of heaven, dressed in the finest of pure white linen, followed him on white horses. From his mouth came a sharp sword to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will release the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty, like juice flowing from a winepress. On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all Lords.
Revelation 19:14‭-‬16 NLT

And when the Lion of Judah first appears, He is found worthy and victorious. He is named the heir to the throne and all praise and honor is given to Him and we burst forth with a brand new song!

And they sang a new song with these words: “You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. And you have caused them to become a Kingdom of priests for our God. And they will reign on the earth.”
Revelation 5:9‭-‬10 NLT

And they sang in a mighty chorus: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered— to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.”
Revelation 5:12 NLT

And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang: “Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to the one sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.” Revelation 5:13 NLT

And TODAY’S verse of the day is that God’s Word always accomplishes what it’s sent out to do!

Gorgeous Friends!

Don’t be afraid of the book of Revelation. It holds such amazing promises for the people of God. Just as the people of God anticipated Jesus’s birth, we now get to celebrate His birth as fulfillment of promise and ALSO anticipate His Return.

It will be a glorious unfolding for those who love Jesus!

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are so amazingly, wondrous! The more I learn, the more I hunger and thirst after Your Word. You have so many things to reveal to a hungry and thirsty soul who longs for more of You. Lord, give us an appetite this Christmas for Your Word and Your Ways and Your Presence.
