Good Morning Gorgeous,
It’s a brand new day. A fresh start. And all things are becoming new.
Pausing on Story Saturday for the month of December as we shift our focus completely to the birth and life of Jesus Christ. I am soaking in Advent by reading one chapter of Luke a day and sharing here what God puts on my heart!
Come join me on this journey!

Luke chapter 2
Joseph has done the honorable thing and continued with his engagement to Mary. The gospel of Luke doesn’t even mention him thinking otherwise. It opens with the census and Joseph taking Mary to be counted as part of HIS family. Taking her to be counted is a step in the natural that shows that he is accepting her and accepting the child growing inside of her. Mary and the baby will be counted as his own.
He is taking her to his hometown to be counted. This is his family now. He is not looking back. Mary is his wife and the baby will be his son. The faith and obedience of both Mary and Joseph is incredible. They follow the Words of the Lord fully and completely and without delay.
Oh Lord may we all walk in that type of obedience. Immediate obedience to every assignment we are called to. We would experience many more miracles if we walked a faith life full of yesses to God that relied on supernatural activity to come to pass.
There is so much Holy visitation and confirmation in Luke 2.
God is so goood. Sooo faithful. And He will not leave Joseph and Mary to question if they heard correctly. He will not leave Joseph wondering if his encounters with angels in his dreams were really of God.
These two have a mighty call on their life and they have obediently said yes. Now God confirms to them that it was Him, this is the Messiah, and they really are on Holy Assignment.
If you have stepped out recently and its been one challenge after another, take heart you have heard correctly and confirmation of the Lord is on the way.
Things got increasingly worse for Joseph and Mary before they received confirmation from God.
The census was called.
At. The. Worst. Time in the natural, but it was supernaturally the exact time chosen by God. It was prophesied that the baby would be born through the genealogy of the line of David and also that He was to be born in Bethlehem. But Joseph and Mary don’t currently live in Bethlehem, But God.
So this is no surprise to God, but it would appear to be all wrong to anyone looking with natural sight.
Mary is very pregnant. This journey would be hard on her. And possibly when they get there or as they are traveling, there may be questions Joseph doesn’t know how to answer. He’s traveling home to his ancient hometown and many of his family would have to travel there for the census as well, and word of the scandal around the baby’s conception may be out. The Bible doesn’t say, but there’s enough details for us to see that this may be an uncomfortable journey for more reasons than one…
They get into town, and there’s no room for them. And….labor begins! Now, really? Right now? If this baby IS the Messiah, and God’s Sovereign Hand is upon this family, why why would this be happening to them? Wouldn’t He make it all easier than this?
I mean Joseph is a real man who had real struggles. He is righteous and loves God. He follows all of the law. We see that all through Luke. He travels for Passover. He goes to temple to offer the sacrifice after Jesus’s birth. He is obedient! And yet, in his humanity, do you think he may have questioned why God would call him to care for the Messiah and make it so hard?
Many times, we are CALLED to destinies far beyond what we can comprehend. And right after our initial surrender and YES to the call, it appears like everything went wrong. Did we hear right? Did God call us to this just to abandon us in the middle of the call?
Yes child of God, YOU HEARD RIGHT!
You ARE MOST CERTAINLY CALLED!
And the struggle is intense and real. Stay the course. Stay in the assignment. Confirmation is ON THE WAY! You are not abandoned and neither were Joseph and Mary!
Confirmation is coming right after the struggle in the form of an angelic birth announcement!

God sent shepherds to Mary and Joseph with a birth announcement from the angels!

And then when they go to the temple in obedience 8 days after the birth of Jesus just like it is required in the law, they get MORE confirmation from Simeon and Anna!
They get prophetic confirmation. Simeon looks at the baby and read carefully what he says! It makes your spirit leap!

And 12 years later, as they are going through the motions of life and still obediently following the Lord by traveling for Passover every year, Jesus stays behind in the temple and they lose Him for three days! But He quickly reminds them who His Father is! And they are puzzled and confused. Almost as if they forgot that He was God’s son.

So if you have forgotten the assignment of God on your life because life got full, may you be reminded fresh today what He has spoken to you in a previous season. May the Word of the Lord come to you and you get fresh revelation of the assignment on your life!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Wow! Wow! Wow! I am continually in AWE of YOUR Word! There is so much treasure in every account in the Bible. So much revelation. So much to soak in, learn from, and be amazed by. You are a faithful, promise keeping God who continues to speak to Your people as they walk out their faith. Lord, send confirming Words to Your people today. As we walk out the destiny You have set for us, show us we are on the right track. Reveal to us that we heard You correctly.
In Jesus’s Name,
Amen.
Blessings!
