Good Morning Gorgeous,
It’s a brand NEW day. A fresh NEW start. And all things are becoming new.
My family and I are at a Core Group Retreat and this time away with the Lord and His people has been amazing.
My babies are learning to flag worship!
The atmosphere is so hungry and expectant for God’s Presence, and just on night one, God has already done amazing things among the men, women, and children here!
Today’s bible reading is in Luke 9, and instead of a summary today, I am going to focus on the commissioning of the Disciples.
Earlier in Luke, Jesus has stepped fully into His earthly ministry and we’ve seen Him proclaim who He is, cast out demons, heal the sick, and raise the dead.
Something brand NEW happens in the opening of Luke 9! BRAND NEW!
Jesus give BOTH authority AND power to the 12 disciples and He SENDS them out!!!
He doesn’t even travel with them! He sends them OFF to move in power and authority. They are to travel 2 by 2, and not to take any earthly provision. And those who don’t receive are to be brushed off with the shaking of their sandal as they move on and KEEEP going onto the next town and the next town. Those who choose to receive will be greatly blessed with the preaching of the gospel, the healing of the sick, blind, deaf, and lame, AND there will be casting out of demons.
Jesus Commissioned them to the FULLNESS of His Ministry!
He didn’t give them a partial ministry. Well I can cast out demons and heal, but you guys go preach and I’ll come behind and do all the miracles.
Or go ahead and heal, but I’ll handle the demons.
NO, they received the power and authority to walk like Jesus doing the SAME miracles.
And when they returned from a successful ministry tour, there was a NEW miracle coming NEXT to be released from their hands by the power of God.
So imagine these disciples. They’ve been walking with Jesus seeing Him teach, heal, and deliver people. Then, He sends them away to do the same. Teach. Heal. Deliver.
And when they return just as they may think they have this ministry of Jesus kinda figured out…… He does a whole NEW kind of miracle!
He begins to MULTIPLY food and have it delivered through the hands of the disciples!
The same hands that used to catch fish and collect taxes are now passing out food supernaturally multiplied by the Lord!
Jesus and the disciples tried to slip quietly away after they returned from ministry and the people found out and followed them!
There are more than 5,000 men and their families too. Its late. They are all hungry. And Jesus tells the disciples to feed them! What! Us. Feed all of them? How?
Jesus moved in a BRAND NEW way after they returned from their ministry travels of moving in healing and casting out demons. Jesus shows them that there’s ALWAYS MORE available.
If you think you have this walk with Christ figured out and you know the Bible and you know how to minister, may I encourage you that there’s MORE Jesus wants to reveal today.
He has next level revelation. New types of creative miracles in your life. New. New. New. New.
He’s amazing like that! And will you seek Him for more today? Will you come to Him asking Him to show you a new thing. A new level of trust. A New level of obedience. A new level of ministry. A new level of intimacy and knowing Him.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank YOU that You always have NEW for Your people! Thank You that there is a NEW anointing for this very season of our lives. That You have goood plans for us to move ahead with You forgetting what is behind us and forging ahead into NEW territory with NEW divine enablement! May we keep moving ahead eyes on YOU. Eyes on YOU. Listening for the next instruction. Listening for Your voice. May we be obedient to the call on our life..
