Christmas Story Day 10: Believe and be filled with Joy

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh start. A Monday right in the middle of the Christmas Season and many of us are rising and preparing for work today. Others may be rising to a list of things to do or handle today. Right in the middle of an ordinary, mundane day 2000 years ago, there were a group of shepherds working and going about their day. When, suddenly everything changed for them AND also for you and me.

In the midst of tending to their flock, an angel of the Lord appeared and the glory of God was so bright that they were terrified. The Angel reassured them, “Do not be afraid.” The Angel is sensitive and calms their fears and then delivers a message that forever altars the way mankind is able to interact with their Creator and Lord. The Angel says, “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”

This is radical, amazing, life altering, heart changing, awe inspiring, changes everything kind of news!

Good News that will bring great joy to ALL people. That means you and me too!! ALL people are impacted by the birth of Jesus.

The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! – Savior! Messiah! Lord! I could just stop here and read these three words again and again and again. Our Lord, the one who spoke the stars into existence. The Lord who crafted and created the heavens and earth. The Lord who planned, designed, fashioned, and formed you and me left heaven and was born into the earth as a baby. This was predicted and recorded in the Old Testament. The Lord had promised a Messiah. A savior. And then the Lord came to earth Himself to save His people.

Then, the Angel was joined by a multitude of other angels who began to praise God and say: “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” Luke 2:14

Gorgeous Girl,
In the middle what appeared to be a regular day, the Lord delivered this magnificent message that radically changed the earth. And right here in the middle of this regular Monday, we can marvel at the birth of our Savior too.
Stop and imagine for a moment, the multitude of angels praising God while the shepherds watched. The earth was shifting and changing. The Lord was dwelling among us! And heaven was celebrating! This was to be the beginning of our salvation and our return back to right relationship with God. And it was beginning with the Lord Himself coming to His beloved people. The Angel said good news that will bring great joy to All People!!! This was to impact all of humanity for all time.

Believe this morning in miracles. Believe in the message of the Angel. Believe in the praises of the whole multitude of angels. Believe in the birth of the Lord into the earth. Believe in the joy and the peace that this means for us. Believe and let your heart be filled with abundant joy.
Jesus came to connect you to Himself. He dwelt among us in human form then, and He dwells now in the hearts of men and women who believe.

As you see the word “Believe” written all around this season. Stop to believe in the birth of our Savior Jesus. Believe in His amazing love for you. Believe in the message of the angels. Believe that the Lord has saved His people in the most radical way: His own birth, death, and resurrection. At Christmas, we celebrate His birth. The beginning of our salvation. Believe. Just believe. Your joy will be great just as the Angel prophesied.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Stir our hearts. Help us to understand this glorious truth. That You radically love us and You were and are willing to do radical things to save us and pour your love into us. Help us to fully believe in the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Help our hearts to shift from just knowledge of the birth of Jesus to fully believing.

In Jesus name, Amen.
