Invite Jesus and Learn to battle a new way….

Goooooood Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh start. A new sunrise about to break forth and interrupt the darkness..The sun will cast out the night, and cause everything to be washed in light. Again and again, day after day. Yet don’t become so accustomed to this miracle that it loses its wonder. It’s a fresh miracle each day as light replaces dark. It’s a brand new reason to rise and praise the Lord for the design of His creation.

The Lord will sustain you in every single season of your life, but His provision may not always look the same season to season. He is a personal, involved God who will sustain you in all different ways throughout your lifetime. He will help you to fight your battles in all different ways too. The things that you battle may require different actions from you as you move ahead. It’s important to stay close to Jesus so that you can rightly hear His instructions and follow His instructions for the battle ahead.

In Joshua, the Isrealites are starting to possess the land. The have come up to Jericho, but its filled with strong warrior men. The Israelites can’t fight this battle the traditional way. If they were to charge in ready to fight, they would quickly be overcome. If they weren’t in daily communication with the Lord, they may miss the instructions and begin to fight their battle with the wrong weapons. They would be overcome in a battle that they were meant to win with the aide of the Lord. I wonder how many battles that I have rushed into battling my own way without the wisdom of the Lord. I wonder if some of my failed attempts at battling alone without the Lord’s instructions, would have ended in victory and triumph instead of defeat.

The Israelites are listening to the Lord, and they do hear His instructions, and they do obey this time, and they do triumph in this battle.

The instructions are not traditional at all! The Lord tells them this:

You and your fighting men should march around the town once a day for six days. Seven priests will walk ahead of the Ark, each carrying a ram’s horn. On the seventh day you are to march around the town seven times, with the priests blowing the horns. When you hear the priests give one long blast on the rams’ horns, have all the people shout as loud as they can. Then the walls of the town will collapse, and the people can charge straight into the town.” Joshua 6:3‭-‬5

They obeyed and they experienced victory! They would have never come up with that solution on their own without the guidance of the Lord. Our lives are similar. We face battles that are just too big for us at times. The battles are larger than we can conquer alone without the Lord. Yet, we charge into the battlefields of life unprepared and without the counsel of our mighty counselor. We are like impulsive children at times who just act without thought. If we would slow down before each battle, each crisis, each fork in the road, each giant roadblock, each time something is possessing our promise, if we could stop and bring each trial before the Lord and be willing to obey His instructions even when they don’t always seem rational or even like the best way to win a battle. If we could learn to pause and pray, I believe we would win more battles. I boldly dare to believe that we could be more victorious in more areas of our life, if we invited Jesus into the battlefield instead of trying to go at it all alone with just our own wisdom. We have the mighty counselor living on the inside of us! Yet, He won’t impose His ways on us. He continues to give us free will over our life. So, if we want His ways over our own, we have to turn to Him and be open to both hearing and obeying.

We serve a God who is always on the throne. He can fight your battles and He will lead you to victory so that you can obtain the promises He has spoken to you. Lean in close today, and invite Him into every battle big or small. Let Him in on every frustration, every relationship, every struggle, every stronghold, every addiction, every relentless cycle, every corner, every nook and cranny, and you will experience victory over battles you have previously lost fighting them all on your own.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Lord, please enter our battlefields. Send heavenly instructions so they we can’t fight only the battles you’ve called us into and only in the ways you’ve called us to battle. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
