Remember, you said…..

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh start. A new day to rise and move as if we completely believe that God’s promises are true and for us!

In my bible reading plan, I am in Genesis 32. Jacob, son of Isaac, grandson of Abraham had fled from his brother decades earlier and now he isreturning back with his wives, children, and mass wealth. He is afraid of how he will be received by his brother.

As he is traveling, he has a conversation with God. And what stuck out to me is how he reminds God what He said. Almost like when a child tells their parent, “But you said!”

In this conversation, Jacob’s reminders of what God said to him, what God promised him serve as a spoken word to reassure him that he will be okay. God has indeed called him to go where he is traveling, so God will sustain him. He tells God, You called me here.

And then he reminds God of the promise that he would prosper and have descendants greater than the sands! The promise was originally given to Abraham, then Isaac, and then Jacob. God continually reminds each patriarch in this generational line of the promise. So when Jacob speaks it to God, God doesn’t need the reminder, Jacob does!

And the same goes for us. In our struggles, we can talk to God with confidence. We can say, “Remember God, Your Words are true and You promised to never leave me or forsake me. You have good plans for me to give me a hope and a future. You are my rock and my strong tower in times of distress!”

These spoken reminders to God, really remind US who is in charge. They remind us that God will carry us and sustain us in all seasons. God doesn’t need the reminder, but the conversation with God draws us closer to Him and the spoken promises of God ground our soul in truth. Then we cannot be shaken!

Speak to God. Talk to Him with reverence for His holiness and power. And remind Him of the promises He has given you. Remind Him of the promises written in His word. This kind of conversation with the Lord will bring you peace and sustain you for whatever lies ahead.

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are a good good Father. You are our Lord, the One that we live for. Lord, You have promised us peace that surpasses all understanding. You have promised to go before us. You have given us the scriptures filled with Your promises. Help us to get those promises deep down in our belief system. Help us to speak them aloud when we face struggle. Let Your Truth be our first line of defense. Let us flee into the safe Arms of Your living Words. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
