Do you have nightmares that prevent you from getting places?

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh start. Yesterday has passed with the evening, and a new dawn has signalled freshness, newness, and the turning of the page.

I woke up this morning after having a nightmare that seemed to stretch on forever. It was two of my most dreaded nightmares in one. First of all, it seemed so real that I was sure it was really happening, and secondly it was one of those dreams where you cannot get where you need to be. One of those dreams where everything goes wrong. You are fighting against all types of situations and circumstances that are preventing you from reaching your destination. And generally you are also late in this type of dream.

For me, I was late for work, like really late. It was already just a few minutes before my start time, and I was still at home with four of my kiddos undressed and they were all arguing and looking for clothes. Lunches were not yet packed, clothes were nowhere to be found, and it was picture day at school. I hadn’t filled out the order forms yet, and was attempting that too. I was debating calling work and telling them there was no way I could be in for at least an hour, but in a dream things don’t make any sense and they don’t follow the normal order of things.

Suddenly, I had a house full of company and they were not at all concerned with my need to get to work.

It was like there was a force field keeping me away from attaining my much desired goal of just getting to work.

Have you ever had this type of frustrating dream?

Or is there something in real life that you are battling against or battling for and it feels like there is a force field keeping you from the victory?

Or do you feel far from God? Even though you pray and you read your bible, and you go to church, you still feel like He is behind a force field and you can never quite reach Him….

I wrote yesterday that Jesus said, “Ask and you will receive”, but He actually had more to say regarding this topic.

He said:

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7‭-‬8 NIV

If you feel far from God’s love, honestly ask yourself, “Have I asked for God to help me to feel His love? Have I sought after a relationship with God? Have I stood knocking on God’s door?”

I believe wholeheartedly that we can take Jesus right at His word here!

If you ask God to help you draw near to Him, He will.

If you seek God with all of your heart and you get serious about it. You get to that point where you are ready to go after Him and experience Him in a new level, I trust completely that as you seek Him, you’re gonna find Him!

And finally, when you knock, He’s going to open the door.

When you ask, be ready to receive.
When you seek, be ready to find.
When you knock, expect the door to open.

When you apply these promises to seeking a closer relationship with the Lord and you ask for Him, you seek Him, and you knock, He will answer you!

These types of prayers that desire more of God rather than more of what God can do for us, are powerful.

They are rooted in our human design to long for relationship with our Father. And He faithfully answers the prayers of a person who prays for a stronger, closer walk with Him.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Help us to seek You first before anything else. Lord, we ask to feel and experience Your love in a new way. Lord, we are seeking You, let us find You afresh. Lord, we are knocking, let the doors be flung open. Lord, break through any force fields real or imagined that are keeping us from where You have called us to be.

In Jesus’s name, Amen.
