What does Jesus say about worry?

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh new start. A new day to rise and be filled with the peace that Jesus has available for you.

Worries and anxieties are not new to our generation of people. Worry has been a struggle for humans since the fall of man in the garden. Worry is the manifestation of doubt and mistrust in the protection and provision of the Lord. We worry when we pick up burdens that the Lord promised to handle for us. Jesus Himself preached that the Father WOULD provide everything that we would need.

Ultimately, He wants our mind elevated to higher things than our day to day living. He wants us to move beyond worry about how we will handle what we eat or drink or how the next day at work will go. He wants our mind on eternal things. Things that will last forever. He wants us to learn to lean in so close to Him in trust so that we can get onto the bigger issues that lay beyond our daily needs.

God promised to handle all your needs so that you can put your mind on how to help your neighbor in their time of need.

If our eyes are on eternity rather than today, we will see with a whole new perspective. We will be grieved for the very things that grieve the Lord. We will desire that our friends and neighbors know Jesus.

We will desire the same things for humanity as Jesus preached when He walked the earth as our human model of what a life of faith looks like. We will share the gospel with fervor.

Here is scripture from Luke. It is Jesus’s own words. In our house when we are reading our bibles and we come to the words of Jesus, we call them red letter words because some bibles have all of Jesus’s direct speech in red print.

It’s like saying, “Hey this is important. Its directly from the mouth of God. Pay attention!”

Then Jesus said to his disciples:Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life ? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Luke 12:22‭-‬34 NIV

The amazing part about this very specific, straight to the point teaching about worry is that there is NO guilt OR condemnation.

If you feel worried right now, do not for one moment let the enemy use your weakness to condemn you or tell you that you are not close to Jesus.

Instead, turn to Jesus and simply ask for help. It’s okay to turn to Him again and again. That is not a lack of faith. Its recognition that He is the answer everytime.

Near the end of His teaching, He says, “Don’t be afraid. Your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom”

He is saying that God is happy to give you everything even the kingdom of heaven. He will provide for you NOW and for ALL of Eternity!

He desires that you be His mouthpiece while your feet are on earth and you spread this good news with everyone you encounter.

Spread the hope and the peace that can be found in Jesus. Tell people about the treasure of salvation. Don’t hide your gift, spread it. Share it with your eyes on the shortness of life and the length of eternity.

And everytime you fall and you find yourself stressed and worrying, be kind and gracious to yourself and just turn to Jesus again and again and again. He will be kind and loving and receive you with open arms every. Single. Time.

He wants to calm your spirit and speak truth to your worried heart so that you have the strength to go out and share the joy of Jesus with others.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Strengthen your people. Give us eyes to see the eternal things and help us to release the worries of the day to day temporary things. Eyes on You and boldness to share Your Word with others. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
