Comforting Psalms

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh start! A new day to turn every single hurt, worry, struggle, and thought right over to the Only One who can fully heal you. The Only One who can work in every area of your situation. The Only One with the power to split the sea, calm the waves, and redeem everything that’s been lost.

And the answer to your access is found in simply giving it ALL to Him. It sounds so easy. It is both unbelievably easy and ridiculously hard to actually hand Jesus every burden and then LEAVE it in His hands. I joke with a few of my friends how we are good at handing Him our load in the morning, but then we go back and snatch it all right back as the day gets underway.

We are so used to living with constant worry, fear, what if scenarios, and endless attempts to work it all out on our own that it is REALLY hard to live each day with God carrying our burdens while we just follow Him and listen for His instructions at every bend and turn.

I woke up this morning with Psalm 23 on my heart, and then when I opened the Bible App, Psalm 55: 22 was the verse of the day. The Psalms are so comforting, and what makes the promises and the wisdom in them even more precious is that many of them were written by David when he was in extreme distress. These promises are not just suggestions from someone who had everything easy. These were sometimes written from the pit of despair. And then David would regain his hope and his strength from the Lord who would sustain him in every season!

Here are a few psalms from Psalm 55 and 56 that I saved this morning. They are from the Passion Translation. Soak them in. Read them slowly. Meditate on the beauty of them! Ask the Lord to help you live them out like David.

These couple of verses are just a drop in the oceans of comfort found in the book of Psalms. If you find yourself having a tough day, needing a Word from God, or just need to be renewed, the book of Psalms is such a beautiful place to meet with the Lord.

And for those of you following my puppy journey, last night I recieved the sweetest video of my little guy. All of the other puppies were sleeping peacefully getting their pictures taken. My little guy was awake and had the wiggles. Here’s a little video of my sweet baby.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for how You care for us..Thank You for meeting us EVERY time we call on You!!! Thank You for Your comfort in ALL seasons. Help us to hand over our burdens and be strong enough to not grab them back. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

  1. Amen.
Wow. This was the same thing that came to mind today after my study about the book of Psalms being a major source of comfort. It’s amazing how David chose to praise even when he was in great despair. That is great faith.
I pray my faith is strengthened in Him. Amen. 🙏
And he is so calm. @the dog. ☺
