Good Morning Gorgeous,
It’s a brand new day. A fresh new start. A new day to rise and look toward the light.
Light is a form of energy that sustains life.
Light drives out darkness.
Where there is light, darkness has no fighting chance.
When you flick on a light, the dark and the light don’t battle.
The dark simply flees. The light prevails.
Every morning there is NO battle between the sun and the dark. Each day the sun rises and causes dark to cease. Just like that.. Sun Rises.. darkness ends.
Every. Single. Day.
The darkness is no match for the light. The light brings forth life and is a mighty force whereas the darkness is simply the absence of the light. It has no power of its own, just an obvious lack of light.
And the Light is another prophetic name given to Jesus hundreds of years prior to His entrance into earth. Before His birth, the earth was expectantly waiting for Him.
Here is the prophecy in Isaiah:
The people who walk in darkness will see a great light.
For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.
Isaiah 9:2 NLT

Jesus would come and save people and shine His bright light into many forces of darkness. This was shared centuries before his birth.
That was prophesied in the Old Testament and and then in the New Testament, in the book of Luke, right before Jesus’s birth, we see a similar prophecy!
Zechariah, the priest and father of John the Baptist, was overcome with revelation and prophesied about has son John’s role in paving the way for the Messiah. And as he prophesied over his newborn son who was Jesus’s cousin, Zechariah said this about JESUS:
Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.”
Luke 1:78-79 NLT

Jesus was about to come on the scene and with His birth a great Light would shine and reveal that which was previously hidden.
Jesus. The Light of the World!
He would shine light on the harsh religious system that man had instituted.
He would shine light on the way to live fully for God.
He would shine light on sin and heal it in the light.
He would shine light on the value of women and elevate them.
He would shine light on racial division and preach caring for one another regardless of differences.
He would shine light on division between Gentile and Jew.
He would shine light on the very hearts of men.
And ultimately He would shine so brightly as He sacrificially drew His final breath in His earthly body, that death couldn’t hold Him.
The darkness had no power over the Light of the World.
Here’s what the disciple John said about Jesus:
The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
John 1:4-5 NLT

He broke the curse of sin and death, and then He did something radical! (As if that wasn’t already really radical)
He took up residence on the inside of His followers and sent them to be the light of the whole world. He chose you and me to be filled with His Holy light and told us to shine like a city placed on a hill.
And the thing about light is the darker the room, the brighter even the smallest flicker appears. In a darkened room, a small nightlight can seem too much.
Here’s what Jesus Himself said about being the Light of the World.

And THEN, this is what He said about you!

Friends, you’ve been anointed to shine brightly in the dark of this world. Does the world seem depressing, filled with trouble, and too dark to bear?
This is the prime space for Jesus to flow from you. For every place your feet tread today, the light breaks forth. Open your mouth to speak, and light spills forth. Walk into a room, and light spills forth. You are a walking lamp in a dark world. And to shine brightly, you just have to stay connected to the Power Source. Jesus.
Stay in prayer with Him all day long. Stay in worship of Him. Stay in the Scriptures. And wherever you go, Jesus will shine through you.

The Old Testament prophesied that the people have seen a great Light.
And in the New Testament, He is recognized as the coming Light by Zechariah and then He is also recognized as this same Light by his Disciple John, and then Jesuseven declares Himself, “The Light.”
And it gets even BETTER going forward!!! ….. In Revelation, He is revealed as the Light Source of Heaven!
In the New Jerusalem, the very Light is Jesus Himself. Imagine the glory up ahead for our eyes to behold. Jesus is the Light of the World! And in the New Heaven and New Earth after Jesus completely restores everything, the Light will Be JESUS! And we will be in the Presence of the Lord Himself as the source of all Light and because Jesus has removed everything that stood between us and Himself, we will be able to stand in the Light.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being the Light of the Whole World! Thank You for breaking through into the darkness of our lives and shedding Light and Revelation into us where we used to stumble in darkness. Lord, we invite You to come and Light up any area where we may still be holding onto darkness. Come and make all things come into Your healing Light. Lord, anoint us with Your Light so that we can be like a city on a hill shining bright for all to see. Lord, assign people to us who need Your Light and let us be bold and courageous enough to share it humbly and with vulnerability. Make us a people willing to show our real selves to the world without a mask of religion but INSTEAD an open vessel pouring out the Light and Love of Jesus Christ.
In Jesus’s name, Amen..
Blessings and opportunities to spread His Light,
Vanessa Lynn
