Hurricane Update Day #6 Treasures in the Mud

Good Morning Gorgeous,

It’s a brand new day. A fresh new start.

We serve a God of power. A God who still moves in mighty, miraculous ways!

I have seen, heard, and experienced God’s amazing provision and goodness even through this devastating hurricane.

Jesus preached of another kingdom.

Jesus preached of an eternal Kingdom.

Jesus preached of a place to store your treasures where nothing could ever take them away.

Treasures in the heavenly realm are things that may be rewards for what we do on earth in the Name of Jesus and also treasures that are formed in the spiritual realm.

Things that no amount of money can purchase.

Things that are not even for sale.

Peace, abundant joy, strong and authentic friendships, hope in the faithful promises of God, and the love of Jesus flowing from person to person.

This hurricane has brought treasures out of the mud and into the light.

I think of a mining tray that is filled with mud and muck and when shaken in the river, all the muck washes away and the treasures remain.

Some treasures that I’ve experienced this past week.

God given friendships

Hugging a dear friend and telling her that we would always be there for her. That she would never have to face tragedy alone, and knowing that God has put us together for such a time as this.

Knocking on another friend’s door who I lost touch with 5 years ago to check on her post hurricane. The joy on her and husband’s faces when they realized it was me at the door. The hugs and the love and the joy to regain a friendship.

Being humble and accepting help from a friend who has access to supplies you haven’t been able to access.

The daily messages shared between groups of friends checking on eachother.

A friend taking my laundry to get washed and my electronics to get charged.

And another friend showing up from Inverness. Leaving her home that has electricity and water to come sit with us in the literal dark!

Testimonies of Supernatural Protection

Friends of mine have started sharing stories of walking in their authority of Christ during the storm.

Two separate friends who don’t know eachother commanded the water to stop where it was and not come into their homes, and they literally witnessed the water stop! Jesus said He was giving His followers all authority and when He walk in that authority, we have His Power! I don’t understand it, but their testimonies show it on display! I visited both of their homes this week and they shared their testimonies through tears.

Another friend witnessed pine trees fall all around her home and not one hit her home. She stands in awe of God.

This historical sign has provided a reminder of God’s love to our city since 1943!! It stayed standing!!!

These stories are treasures to strengthen our faith and show that we can access a supernatural power in our time of need.

Communities banding together and help arriving

Food trucks offering free hot meals

Portable showers being set up at the Hertz Arena which is a shelter right now

People posting on Facebook that they have power and water offering showers and charging

Groups of people showing up to clean yards or homes of neighbors, friends, and strangers

A general sense of community all in this together

Gratitude for God’s Provision

Most of our community is without power which means no air conditioning. And after every other hurricane that I can remember, the weather has been stifling hot, humid, and miserable. BUT not this time! We are on day 6 of cooler weather. God has provided for us this amazing weather and it’s been such a blessing.

The Night Sky is brilliant and sparkly because there’s no light pollution. So at night people are going outside to marvel at God’s creation. My son took this picture.

Kids stepping up

Witnessing my kids grow through this. My 15 year old helping with his siblings, preparing our home before the storm, helping afterwards, checking on me continuously and asking what he can do to help.

My 12 year old daughter picking up extra chores, taking on more responsibility, and playing with her siblings.

And all 5 of them have been willing to participate in yard work at home and for others.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Wow! You truly are everywhere and in everything. You provide and provide and provide. You are faithful, always faithful. I trust You. I will continue to trust You. Even the deepest hurt, and the darkest hour, You can be found weaving goodness into the pain. You promised in Romans 8:28 to work all things for good for those who love You. You turn evil, even the darkest evil, into opportunities for Your love to be administered. You are God and You are good. I love You and I trust You.

In Jesus’s Name,

Amen.

Blessings and Heavenly Treasures,

Vanessa Lynn

And if you came across this post and you haven’t yet accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, may I encourage you that by choosing Him you receive eternal life in heaven, BUT ALSO abundant life NOW. Following Him is the most precious adventure you have ever taken!! All you have to do to get started is to pray and receive Him as Lord. The Bible says to confess Jesus Christ as Lord and believe with your heart the precious gospel message that Jesus taught. Repent of your sins which means simply to ask Jesus to forgive you and then choose to walk away from them and go in the New Direction that God is calling you to. Confess or speak that you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died for you, that He was resurrected from the dead, and ascended to heaven. And that you recieve Him as your Lord and Savior. That you are sorry for your sins and you recieve His FULL and complete forgiveness for every wrong you’ve ever committed. And that you are choosing to follow Him now and leave the ways of the world behind for the things of Jesus!!! And if you mean that with your heart, you are saved and set free to live a new life free of sin! The Bible says you are now a brand new creation! Old things have passed away and new things have come!!! The Bible also says that all of heaven rejoices whenever a person is saved!!!! Just imagine the party being held in heaven on your behalf right now!!
