Script for Taking Communion

Good Morning Gorgeous!

It’s a brand NEW day. A fresh new start!

Here in America, it’s Thanksgiving Day!

A day to pause and reflect on our blessings, it’s a beautiful opportunity to be in full gratitude mode for what Jesus did for us on the cross.

As you gather around the table, you can lead your guests in Communion to pause and remember the ultimate sacrifice!

I wrote a script that you could read. Its a little lengthy. You could shorten it depending on your needs.

On the Last Night before Jesus was to go to the cross, Jesus gathered to eat the Passover meal with His Disciples. He was about to reveal a plan that would change everything. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, The FULLNESS of God was going to be made available to everyone who would receive Jesus and this brand new contract written in heaven!

There was to be a GREAT price paid. The Lord Himself in the flesh of a human would walk the earth, become the visible touchable form of God that would walk among His people teaching them, revealing secret things of the Kingdom to them, and ultimately dying a sinner’s death SO THAT they wouldn’t have to! He would be blameless as He walked the earth. And His life wouldn’t be easy at all. He would be born into poverty. He would have a scandal around his beginnings. He would be the talk of the town. Rejected by His own hometown when He revealed that He was the Messiah. He would be mocked, rejected, and killed by the very people He was dying to save!

At the very last Supper, Jesus sat with His closest disciples. The ones who didn’t leave when the teachings had been hard. The ones who stayed when it was difficult. The ones who left everything behind to follow Him. and He would speak the most marvelous mysteries and make them plain!

HE WAS THE PASSOVER LAMB this time!!  He was going to die for them and there would never have to be another animal sacrifice.

All they would have to do is receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior and His Broken Body and Blood would be enough to cover every sin, make them holy because of His holiness, and make a way for ACCESS to the Father for what they would need to live the same type of life as Jesus did. Totally empowered by Holy Spirit.

This is what Jesus said:

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26:26‭-‬30‬ ‭NLT‬‬
[26] As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take this and eat it, for this is my body.” [27] And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, [28] for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many. [29] Mark my words—I will not drink wine again until the day I drink it new with you in my Father’s Kingdom.” [30] Then they sang a hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives.

When we take communion we are following Jesus’s direction to do this in remembrance of Him and the sacrifice. To not forget the price paid.

We pause to remember. To remember that HE is the reason we are able to freely enter the Presence of God. He is the reason we are washed clean. And it’s because of His sacrifice we are made whole and healed.

Prayer:
Thank the Lord for his sacrifice. Thank you for Your Body Broken for us. Thank You that you created a new covenant with us inviting us in. We recieve you a fresh today and we declare we are your followers willing to partake in the same cup of suffering you did.

Search our hearts now Lord and see if there be any wicked way in me. We are sorry Lord, cleanse us now and may we be cleansed because of your sacrifice.   Thank You Lord for Your body broken for us. As we eat this bread we remember that your body was broken for us.  (Partake in the bread or cracker)

Thank You Lord for the blood poured out for healing of our physical body and cancelling the curse of death so that we may be healed and made completely and spiritually whole.
As we partake in the drink now, we receive everything made available by the blood of Jesus. (Partake in the drink)

We honor and worship You Lord with Thanksgiving and Praise!! Thank You for making a WAY! Thank You for being Lord and Savior! We confess You as our Savior and Lord of our Life afresh today. Lead us into paths of righteousness.

In Jesus Name. Amen.

You can tailor make what you say. You can shorten it. Here are some key points the communion meal should :

1. A prayer of thanks for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

2. You can Read aloud one of the gospel accounts of the Last Supper in Matthew 26:26, Mark 14, Luke 22, OR 1 Corinthians 11:23

3. Pause and give time to search your heart and repent.

4. Thank the Lord for His body broken for you. Take the bread.

5. Thank the Lord for His precious blood poured out for the remission of sins. Take the drink.

6. Praise Him with a prayer of thanks again.

Luke‬ ‭22:17‭-‬20‬ ‭NLT‬‬
[17] Then he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. Then he said, “Take this and share it among yourselves. [18] For I will not drink wine again until the Kingdom of God has come.” [19] He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” [20] After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.

‭‭Mark‬ ‭14:22‭-‬26‬ ‭NLT‬‬
[22] As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take it, for this is my body.” [23] And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. [24] And he said to them, “This is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice for many. [25] I tell you the truth, I will not drink wine again until the day I drink it new in the Kingdom of God.” [26] Then they sang a hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives.
