3 days until Christmas.
3 readings left of Luke. Luke 22, 23, and 24.
In Luke 22, the Pharisees are plotting to kill Jesus.
The war in the Spirit realm has intensified, and satan is plotting to crucify the Messiah.
This has been the plan of God all along, but woe to the man through whom the betrayal comes !
This is what Jesus says about Judas who has made a deal with the Pharisees to turn Jesus in to them.
Revelation reveals that Jesus was the Lamb slain since the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8
And we see foreshadows of the blood covering all the way back in Genesis.
So even though this is the plan, was the plan, and had been the plan, we see Jesus who is God Himself mourning what is to come. Jesus IS Fully God and Fully man anguishing over the upcoming crucifixion.
And satan isn’t just after Jesus, he is trying to take out the disciples. Satan hates the followers of Jesus then and today.
He is successful at deceiving Judas, and he tries for Peter too.
We find this out when Jesus talks to Peter and tells him plainly.
Luke 22:31-32 NLT
[31] “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. [32] But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”
Notice what is being said here!!! ITS POWERFUL!
Jesus is saying to Peter…. Satan has asked for you. But I have PRAYED for you. I HAVE interceded that your faith would NOT fail! So when you have repented, strengthen the faith of those close to you!
Did you catch that?!!!!
Jesus KNOWS about Peter’s upcoming betrayal and Jesus has interceded and prayed for Peter’s Faith to be strengthened. That Peter would return to Jesus and then go get others and strengthen them too.
We have a HIGH PRIEST in heaven, Jesus Christ, praying for us!
He stands up to satan, Jesus’s plans PREVAIL! JESUS PRAYERS OVER US DEFEAT THE PLANS OF THE ENEMY!
Lean into that. Rest in that. Pray into that!
Your failures, Jesus was praying you through!
Your doubt, Jesus is praying you through!
Your struggles and when people hurt you, Jesus is praying you through!!!
Peter does fail. He does deny Christ three times, but He returns!!! And when He returns, He is the FIRST to stand up filled with the Holy Spirit and preach the gospel.
He is redeemed and restored and forgiven.
He brings 3,000 to Jesus with his very first sermon!!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Your ways are so much higher than our ways. Your plans are so much more amazing than anything we can devise on our own. Keep us safe from the plans of the enemy. Protect us. Guard us. Keep us on the narrow path that leads to life.
