Prophecies Fulfilled through Jesus

Good Morning Gorgeous!

It’s a brand new day. A fresh new start!

Last night I taught a Bible study about Jesus being prophesied all throughout the Old Testament and the fulfillment in the New Testament.

Most of this blog is in note form, but here are all the Scriptures. I encourage you to grab a highlighter and highlight all of the Old Testament Prophecies and then find the fulfillment in the New Testament!

This is depth study will strengthen your faith!

Apostle Paul writes this about Jesus to the church in Rome:

Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 1:1-4, ESV)

After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to two disciples on their walk to Emmaus and He tells them AGAIN that all the Scriptures pointed to Him!

Then Jesus said to them, “You foolish people! You find it so hard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the Scriptures. Wasn’t it clearly predicted that the Messiah would have to suffer all these things before entering his glory?” Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. (Luke 24:25–27, NLT).

He had already told them at least THREE recorded times in Matthew alone, and they still missed it when it happened!

Jesus prophecied His own death and explained it to the disciples in these verses:

  • Matthew 16: 21
  • Matthew 17: 22
  • Matthew 20: 17-19
  • Luke 9:22

Talking to the Pharisees, Jesus said, “You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!” (John 5:39, NLT)

Many Bible scholars share that there are approximately 300 written prophecies about the genealogy, birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

God SOOO often reveals what He is going to do even BEFORE He does it! He will speak forth His plans in the earth, and then carry them out fully and completely. Even as He created the world, He spoke it. He told the light to break forth. He spoke the plants to come from the ground and the oceans to fill with life!

There is POWER in the Word of God. So much so that we have the opening of the Bible with the Spoken Word of God and then He NEVER stops speaking. He continues to speak throughout every book of the bible all the way through Revelation when He returns with a Word!

So When did Jesus exist? Always! We just finished celebrating Christmas in which we pause to reflect on the power of the birth of Christ, but the birth of Christ was NOT the beginning of Christ!

He was there at Creation, speaking the World into existence. He is the Alpha and the Omega. The beginning and the end of all things. He simply became visible to people when He chose to be born as the Christ in flesh.

The Disciple John writes:

‭‭John‬ ‭1:1‭-‬14‬ ‭NLT‬‬
[1] In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He existed in the beginning with God. [3] God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. [4] The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. [5] The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. [6] God sent a man, John the Baptist, [7] to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. [8] John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. [9] The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. [10] He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. [11] He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. [12] But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. [13] They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. [14] So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

The Disciple Peter writes that Jesus was planned to be our redemption BEFORE the world even began!

1 Peter 1: 19-20
[19] It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. [20] God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake.

There was an Amazing plan in place for Him to become visible and defeat satan in a way flesh alone never could.

Colossions 1: 15
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,

And YOU were chosen before the foundation of the world tooooo!!!

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:4‭NLT‬‬[4] Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. [5] God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

Tension is that God is all knowing, but He gives us free will!
He has a redemption PLAN!! Whole BIBLE is the revealing of the Lord! Revealing His faithfulness and the giving and keeping of promise
The ULTIMATE promise is found in Messiah!
Fulfillment in Christ’s birth, death, resurrection, pouring out of Holy Spirit
AND will be completed in His Return!

Jesus was promised at the curse! God was delivering the curse to satan and told him that there would be enmity between satan and the woman. She would bear offspring that would crush his head! Even in the midst of God delivering up the curse, Jesus was being spoken of and the redemption plan in MOTION!
