Good Morning Gorgeous,
It’s a brand new day. A fresh start. The sun will rise again soon. You can count on God each day even more securely than the sunrise. He is faithful to do what He has promised. He will work out what you are walking through.
Today’s verse of the day is perfect.
For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Isaiah 43:19
The Lord is going to do something new in your life. He isn’t always going to make a way the same way that He has before. Sometimes we don’t recognize His Hands at work because He is doing something brand new. He is working it out a new way. The Lord is able to do the impossible. And He does. Each day He is shifting, moving, rearranging, working things out on your behalf. Sometimes, he works in fresh new ways to bring you a fresh new solution that doesn’t look like anything you imagined the outcome to be.
This verse also says that He will make pathways in the wilderness. In an area that is referred to as wilderness, there is usually to recognizable “right way” or path. Everywhere looks similar. There are often perils around every bend, and because everything looks the same, you can wander for ages and wonder if you moved an inch. Life feels this same way sometimes. We wonder if we are getting anywhere despite all of our hard work plodding along. The dangers seem to be jumping out at every bend, and even though we trudge on, are we making any headway? God promises to make a pathway through that very wilderness. Pathways are recognizable. When you are on a pathway, you know it. It is carved out. It is usually easier to walk on than the rest of the area around you. Someone has been here before and walked on this path to carve it out. And pathways generally lead somewhere. They have a purpose for travelling on them. They lead you from where you are to somewhere else. God promises pathways in the wilderness! He will carve out recognizable paths that lead you somewhere purposeful! You won’t wander in vain when you are following Jesus. The Lord will carve the path, and the Holy Spirit will make it recognizable for you. He will make a way when there seems to be no way and the He will open your eyes to see the path available in the wilderness.
This verse in Isaiah promises that the Lord is doing something new, making a path in the wilderness, AND creating rivers in dry wasteland!
He will provide in abundance where it seems to be dry wasteland. The Lord didn’t promise a well or a pond or even 1 river. He promised riverS in the dry wasteland. The thing about rivers is they don’t stop flowing. Rivers are an abundant, never ending source of life giving water. And the Lord promised rivers (plural- I love His abundance!) in places that are dry and even referred to them as wastelands. Places where there seems to be no hope, no provision, dryness, waste, no way to be quenched, places where there is no life. In those hopeless places, He will cause rivers to flow!!!! Rivers carry life. Those rivers can be abundant needs being met in our life even when everything around looks dry. Those rivers can be life giving waters amidst the bleak outlook in many areas around the world including our nation. Those rivers can be life returning and flowing out of us in places that we thought had run dry!!
We can be the source of living waters to a dry wasteland. The Lord is so so amazing to me! I fell asleep thinking back over ways He has been forming me and shaping me through experiences I have had that seemed to have little purpose at the time. But God. He uses everything. He uses our past trials and our triumphs as He is working out something brand new! He is doing a new thing in my life and He is doing a new thing in your life. He is making pathways and providing rivers where there seems to be no way and no water. But God!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for Your Word and promise in Isaiah 43. You are such a merciful, kind Lord who is working all things out for those who love you. Here we are Lord. We submit to the works of Your Hands as You begin something new in our life. We are searching for the pathway that You are carving and we are ready to see rivers in dry wastelands. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
And….just for fun! This is a picture of my baby girl taken this morning. She is my daily reminder that God is a miracle working God!
Blessings to each of you!
