Good Morning Gorgeous,
It’s a brand new day. A fresh start. A new sunrise is upon us.
A new day to drop everything and get into His Presence.
A new day to run to the Lord.
A new day to fix our gaze on Jesus.
A new day to marvel and wonder at Him.
A new day to tell everyone we know about our encounters with Jesus!
That is exactly what the Shepherds did when the angels visited them. The shepherds had a life changing encounter with an angel of the Lord who announced the birth of the Savior!
The angel announced that he brought good news and tidings of joy for ALL people!!!
He told the shepherds where they could find the baby and that He would be wrapped in swaddling clothes in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.”
The shepherds were in the fields working. They were tending to their daily business just going about another ordinary day. They had NO idea that when they woke up that morning, they were going to have a supernatural encounter later that day. The day was just like any other. Get up, work and do what needs to be done.
Yet the moment the angel announced the good news of Jesus, they dropped everything and RAN to Jesus. They got there quickly and they worshipped and marveled at Jesus.
Immediately the shepherds went. The scripture said they “made haste to get there” They left everything they were doing to get to Jesus.
They didn’t question the message. They didn’t make excuses of how they couldn’t leave their sheep this night. They looked at one another and said, “Let’s go!”
When they got there, they gave their testimony. They told Mary and Joseph and anyone near what the angel said about Jesus.
After they left, they continued to praise and glorify God, telling everyone that they met! They were forever changed by their miracle. Jesus changes everything! He can visit us and have an encounter with us even in the mundane. In the day to day normal happenings of life, you can encounter Jesus and receive a miracle.
Don’t discount the mundane as lack of Heavenly activity. God is always working. And when you encounter Him, be ready to RUN to your miracle. Be ready to behold and experience Jesus and His redemption miracles. And then tell everyone! Praise Him and glorify Him and let others know that you have had a life changing encounter. This will draw others closer to Jesus as well.
And be forever changed. The shepherds probably returned to their work, yet what were they talking about? As they returned to the fields, I bet everything looked different. Beauty filled. Hope filled. Love filled. They were chosen by God to be the ones to see the baby Messiah. And what a treasure that must have been. The Lord hand selected shepherds to get the birth announcement of His son! He was bursting with pride, and He didn’t tell the high priest or the religious leaders. He appeared to the shepherds keeping watch in the fields. He appeared to shepherds who watched over sheep that may even have been used for sin sacrifice. They watched over and cared for animals that would be used to atone for sin, and they were given the privilege of putting their eyes on the perfect, unblemished lamb born straight from heaven.
God is goooood! His plans are perfect. His ways are different than we might imagine. He loves us with an amazing, incredible love that surpasses our understanding.
Today, we can leave every worry behind to RUN to Him and marvel at His goodness. We can spend time in His Presence and then be filled with JOY to go out and SHARE His story with all we encounter.
And if you are waiting on breakthrough or a miracle or healing and the day to day seems to be mundane and ordinary, your miracle is still coming! God appears in the day to day and when He does, it changes everything!
Dear Heavenly Father,
What a glorious picture of Your love. You chose the shepherds who were considered lowly in the culture of the time. You chose them over everyone else to receive a birth announcement directly from heaven! Thank You Lord for Your Words in scripture that we can mediate on and learn about You. I am in awe of Your ways and Your love.
In Jesus’s name, Amen.
Scripture from Luke 2
Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.
