A Word from God for 2021

Good Morning Gorgeous!

It’s a brand new day. A fresh start! This beginning of a new year!

I have been thinking and praying about a Word for 2021. Each year, I pray for God to give me a Word that I can hope for, believe Him for, a Word on which I can stand on or grow up in that area.

Each year is different.

My 2019 word was “verve”. A word I was first introduced to by Beth Moore and it means to me:  boldness, nerve to get out and be bold for the gospel, passionate without reservation. In this season, I was just beginning to really blog daily and share my heart with people in new ways. During 2019, I learned to minister to people in the street and to also be open to listening to and obeying the voice of the Holy Spirit when He prompted me to pray for strangers. It was a year of stepping out and learning to have a new level of nerve in sharing Jesus…. “verve”.

My 2020 Word was “But God”. And wow didn’t that end up being fitting for the year! Despite everything that came against us in 2020, it was a huge year of spiritual growth for me and for my family. God was faithful to me and blessed me abundantly with Heavenly treasures and spiritual gifts that no one can take away from me whether pandemic, trauma, storms of life, time of lack or times of abundance, God gave me something very special in 2020 that I will have forever!……. “But God!”

And now 2021, I have been thinking about a Word for this year. Praying about it. I had two others that I was thinking may work, but Holy Spirit illuminated one for me and I literally cannot even remember the other two! So this year’s word is: “fervent”.

I am being called to seek Him and pray to Him with a new level of fervency. To pray and minister like people’s lives depend on it! Because they do!
I will share more about fervency as I study it and dig in deeper. Fervent is found all throughout the bible. I want to go through and read the many ways it’s used in scripture and share more. Just a few meaning are: passionate, intense, burning, and glowing.

I am ready to seek Jesus with fervency, to pray with increased fervency, to learn to worship fervently, and to just go after God and all of His ways with a fervent heart!

Do you have a Word for 2021?

Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You thankful for a new year. Thankful for the reminder that You are the One who makes all things new. You alone can transform our hearts and our minds. You alone are our Creator and the One who can mend everything that has been hurt, broken, or distorted. I give you everything I have, everything I am, and ask that you deposit a new level of fervency and fire inside of my being. A fervent heart and a fervent spirit that causes me to chase down the Your ways and to do Your will in increased measure. Lord, speak to these dear friends and give them  Word that they can lean into and use to remind them all year long that You are for them and working in them and on their behalf.

In Jesus’s name, Amen.

Blessings and abundance in the Lord in 2021!

    1. Remember is an awesome Word. And so so important. When the Israelites failed to remember they got into all sorts of heartaches. When I am struggling, I stir up and remember the previous moves of God in my life. It stirs my faith afresh. 🙂

  1. God bless you Vanessa! Love your word for 2021! I stand in agreement with you “a new level of fervency and fire” for sure! Father, as Vanessa so fervently prayed, fan the flames within us, give us immeasurable desire to seek you each and every day, bless us with special revelations so we can proclaim your goodness to all, empower us to share your saving grace, and help us to walk obediently in your will, plan, and purpose. We love you and it’s in Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen!!

My word for 2021 is spiritual discipline!

  2. Beautiful!!!! This is what the Christian life is about..that when the mess comes God is still seated on the throne and He gets the glory no matter what!!! So I absolutely love, love, love what you said here:

It’s like literally living out the best of the worst!! Praise be to Him!!
